Job Description

As a Staff DevOps Engineer in the Research Group, you will lead DevOps and infrastructure initiatives, enabling researchers to operate quickly, securely, and reliably. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining cloud environments for scalability and performance. You will also act as a liaison between the Research Group and other stakeholders like Security, Networking, Compliance, and Platform teams, ensuring project alignment with organizational standards while fostering innovation.
Must have:
  • Own and evolve the Research Group’s infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to enforce best practices
  • Collaborate with networking and platform engineers to integrate research workloads
  • Mentor engineers and researchers on DevOps best practices
  • Define and implement standards for infrastructure-as-code, observability, monitoring, and resource optimization
  • Balance technical depth with cross-functional collaboration
  • 3+ years of experience supporting systems in cloud environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems and networking fundamentals
  • Solid experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred)
  • Hands-on experience running Kubernetes workloads
  • Expertise with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) to build automation and tooling
  • Experience leading cross-team projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with GCP Composer/Apache AirFlow

Your Career

As a Staff DevOps Engineer supporting our Research Group, you will lead all DevOps and infrastructure initiatives that empower our researchers to move quickly, securely, and reliably. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the group’s cloud environments, ensuring scalability, stability, and performance across a wide range of experimental and production workloads.

You’ll serve as the primary point of contact between the Research Group and other critical stakeholders—including Security, Networking, Compliance, and Platform teams—ensuring that research projects align with organizational standards while still enabling innovation at a rapid pace.

Your Impact

  • Own and evolve the Research Group’s infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, enabling reproducible, automated, and scalable experimentation.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams to enforce best practices around data governance, access controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with networking and platform engineers to integrate research workloads into the broader company ecosystem.
  • Mentor engineers and researchers on DevOps best practices, helping to instill a culture of operational excellence in the research domain.
  • Define and implement standards for infrastructure-as-code, observability, monitoring, and resource optimization tailored to research use cases.
  • Balance technical depth with cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • 3+ years of experience supporting systems in cloud environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
  • Solid experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
  • Hands-on experience running Kubernetes workloads.
