Diamond Turning 2-Axis operator

Production of precision optical components using a double axis diamond turning flycut machine. Materials to be machined may include but are not limited to Cu, CuCr, Al, Ni, Au, ZnSe, ZnS, Ge, and Si etc. The operator will be responsible for controlling and verifying all critical component dimensions, finish quality, and optical figure for all parts machined.

Education & Experience:

• High School Graduate or equivalent. 
• Competent shop math and algebra skills.  
• Any of the following experience is a plus but not required:
  • Machine shop 
  • Machine operation
  • Inspection
  • QA 

Skills:                                

• Good mechanical problem solving
• Well developed communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle diverse detailed tasks.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to daily work requirements
• Knowledgeable in reading drawing and understanding electronic schematic drawings.
• Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated.

Working Conditions:

Laboratory conditions involving the use of assorted equipment (e.g., diamond turning machines, ultrasonic cleaners, annealing ovens, hand tools, leak detector), as well as acids and caustic solutions for the cleaning of copper and aluminum. 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
