The position is attached to the Department of Medicine, which includes medical specialty services and general internal medicine.
Under the supervision of the lead dietitian for the Department of Medicine team, you will be responsible for the care of obese patients before and after bariatric surgery.
You will provide nutritional care, according to SMOB criteria:
Pre-operatively, a personalized assessment of nutritional health is expected during a dietary consultation, including an evaluation of eating habits and eating disorders, and information on expected post-operative changes. Indirect calorimetry and body composition measurements are performed.
Post-operatively, follow-up must include a qualitative and quantitative nutritional assessment at regular frequencies, including 6 times in the first year, and follow-up for up to 5 years with particular attention to the prevention of deficiencies (vitamins, proteins, minerals). Indirect calorimetry and body composition measurements are regularly performed.
You will maintain the follow-up of patients who are candidates for bariatric surgery and are referred to HUG from the outset, thus contributing to the harmonization of care while respecting the recommendations of expert societies.
You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team specialized in therapeutic education and bariatric surgery, which is responsible for the evaluation, surgical treatment, and overall post-operative and long-term monitoring of bypass patients.
You will actively participate in various clinical and functional meetings and collaborate in the training of students and health professionals.
You will provide cover for colleagues in other acute care units as needed.
You hold a HES dietitian diploma or an equivalent qualification.
You master indirect calorimetry (IC) measurements and body composition measurements by bio-impedancemetry (BIA).
You master IT tools, and proficiency in English is an asset.
You have at least two years of experience in clinical nutrition, in acute care, and in the management of adult patients undergoing bariatric surgery.
You have an interest in acute care patient management and the ability to work in a team, argue, and negotiate.
Possessing good communication skills, you have intellectual and professional curiosity, as well as a reflective attitude, and you are able to integrate quickly.
Your autonomy in time management and organization is a real asset for successfully carrying out your activities.
You are available to work day, night, and weekend shifts as required by the department.
