Who are we hiring?
We are seeking an experienced Finishing Producer (titled internally as Director Finishing) to lead and oversee all aspects of the finishing process across a diverse range of high-end, immersive content for Sphere. This role is pivotal in ensuring that final picture, color, visual effects integration, and versioning meet the highest creative and technical standards across all platforms, including Sphere’s proprietary formats.
As a Finishing Producer, you will work closely with the Editorial, Color, Audio, Post Production, and Creative teams to manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables, while also partnering with internal and external vendors. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of finishing pipelines, color workflows, conform, versioning, and delivery in traditional and non-traditional formats (large format, VR, 360, high frame rate, HDR, etc.).
This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, operational excellence, people-skills and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines. You will report to the VP of Post Production.
What will you do?
- Lead the finishing process for all major Sphere content including Sphere Original Experiences, Residencies, Corporate Events, Marquee Events, promos, trailers, and marketing materials.
- Coordinate with internal departments (Editorial, VFX, Audio, Capture, Creative, Color Science, and Marketing) and external vendors to manage finishing timelines and quality.
- Track finishing schedules and budgets across multiple concurrent productions, ensuring scope alignment and timely delivery.
- Review and approve finishing bids and change orders in collaboration with Business Operations and Production.
- Lead finishing reviews and creative sign-off processes with Directors, Producers, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure compliance with security, NDA, and IP protection protocols.
- Be the first point of contact for internal, external and executive stakeholders regarding the Finishing Process and department.
- Support continuous improvement of workflows, tools, and best practices for finishing and final delivery.
- Manage a team of Colorists, Finishing Artists, Conform Artists and Coordinators both internal and external.
What do you need to succeed?
- 12–15 years of experience in Post Production, with a minimum of 10+ years in a Finishing Producer or Post Supervisor role, ideally at a studio, production company, or high-end post facility.
- 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams, with a proven ability to mentor staff and oversee complex workflows.
- Deep understanding of finishing workflows, including conform, color grading, mastering, and versioning.
- Experience working with large format, high frame rate, HDR, immersive, and real-time content.
- Strong knowledge of industry tools and platforms such as DaVinci Resolve, Flame, Baselight, Premiere, Ftrack, ShotGrid, etc.
- Proven ability to manage complex schedules and multiple vendors across multiple projects.
- Strong track record of executive reporting, including status updates, budget summaries, and key project milestones.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments.
- Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex budgets, maintain production schedules, and cultivate vendor partnerships, including navigating union rules and relationships.
- Working knowledge of color science, including HDR workflows, ACES color management, and other industry-standard grading practices.
- Knowledge of camera capture specifications and data workflows across a variety of professional formats (e.g., REDCODE RAW, ARRIRAW, ProRes, etc.).
- Familiarity with Sphere, dome, or non-standard display formats is a significant plus.
- Proficiency in navigating and executing scripts via command line (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or terminal-based environments) a plus.
- A passion for high-quality creative content and a commitment to innovation.
SUPERVISION:
Will oversee a small team of Colorists, Finishing Artists, Conform Artists, Finishing Coordinators, Color Assistants, and freelance staff depending on project scale. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities are essential.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Role may require travel between Los Angeles, New York, and Las Vegas.
- Ability to work non-standard hours and weekends, as needed, based on production schedules.
- Position is based in Los Angeles with an expectation of on-site work.
