Job Summary:

As a Disney Culinary Program participant at the Walt Disney World® Resort, you will become part of the magic that is known worldwide, gain on-the-job experience working in our parks and resorts, participate in an outstanding learning experience, and meet and live with people from all over the world in the housing community. Culinary Cast Members have the opportunity to showcase their passion for culinary while providing first-rate dining experiences. In this role, we provide an outstanding dining experience working for one of the world's leading entertainment and hospitality companies.
We are recruiting for Programs with arrival dates through April 2025. Individual Program lengths vary and may be in accordance with your school requirements. Program length must be between 4 months (16 weeks) to 6 months (24 weeks).
Arrival availability will be discussed during the interview.

Participant's Rate of Pay

  • $21.00 per hour for Cook 2 / Baking & Pastry 2

  • $24.10 per hour for Cook 1 / Baking & Pastry 1

  • $25.10 per hour for Cook 1 Signature

What You Will Do

  • Prepare dishes from scratch for a variety of locations throughout our restaurants while encompassing a diverse offering of cuisines

  • Work cleanly and safely within culinary and food preparation

  • Follow recipes and understand recipe conversion

  • Learn and develop alongside our culinary team

Responsibilities:

Culinary Assistant, Cook II

  • Work in a fast-paced a la carte, buffet, catering/special events, production, or quick service/food court environment (may include an on-stage cooking location)

  • Gain skills in culinary fundamentals in hot and cold food station setup, sauce-making, and salad/sandwich preparation

  • Knowledge of food allergies, seasonal ingredients and menus

  • Proficiency in stations of the line, including deep-frying, sauteing, roasting, boiling, and grilling, along with vegetable, grains, and starch cookery

Culinary Assistant, Baking & Pastry

  • Work in a fast-paced bakery, banquet, catering/special events, production or restaurant environment

  • Learn the technical skills of plated dessert preparations as well as muffins, breads, cookies, petit fours, and cupcakes

  • Gain exposure to food cost control and product ordering

  • Proficiency in mixing, cutting, proofing, and baking

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization within the United States*

  • Be fully available to work Sunday through Saturday, including days and nights, holidays and overtime

  • Knowledge of HACCP, proper food handling techniques, temperatures, and food safety

  • Display proficient knife skills and knowledge of basic cuts

  • Good communication skills and outstanding Guest Service

  • Able to stand/walk for the entire shift, lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Work in various locations including indoor and outdoor environments

  • Be receptive to Disney Look appearance guidelines

  • Students with additional years of experience/education may be considered for a Cook 1 or Baking & Pastry Cook 1 role

Required Education

  • Full-time or part-time student in a Culinary Arts/Baking & Pastry program seeking a certificate or degree in the United States*

  • Currently enrolled in at least one (1) class and have completed at least one semester or

  • Graduated in the past twenty-four (24) months

  • Currently enrolled students may need to meet additional school requirements, such as:

    • GPA

    • Grade level

    • Number credit hours earned

*United States includes all 50 states plus Puerto Rico and all other United States territories.
