The Embedded Service Engineer will provide tier-2 support for the Autodesk Desktop Connector product. Responsibilities include triaging customer technical issues, developing automations for self-help and self-heal, acting as a customer liaison with the engineering team, researching and documenting product defects, troubleshooting software, and leading initiatives to improve efficiency. The role requires building and maintaining service automation runbooks, alert and telemetry systems, and documentation for the developed automations. The engineer is expected to work independently and/or guide team members to meet deadlines. This role involves strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience in architecture or manufacturing domain.
  • Strong skills in Windows OS, networking, cloud APIs, and virtualization.
  • Experience writing script-based automations using PowerShell or Python.
  • Experience in Agile software development practices and tools.
Good to have:
  • Excellent skills in resolving customer problems.
  • Exhibit leadership skills.
  • Experience with CAD products like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Fusion 360, or Inventor.

Position Overview

Autodesk Customer Technical Success organization is seeking a talented and dynamic embedded service engineer to provide dedicated tier-2 support for the Autodesk Desktop Connector product line. Desktop Connector is an Autodesk solution that connects desktops to Autodesk cloud services for efficient and intelligent data management, both locally and in the cloud. This individual will work with the Product Insights & Diagnostics team to triage customer technical issues and develop automations to deliver self-help and self-heal automations.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the dedicated support expert for Desktop Connector in Customer Technical Success

  • Act as the customer liaison with engineering team

  • Research, verify, and document product defects

  • Boost customer trust in our solutions by expediting the resolution of escalated customer challenges through swifter triage and issue resolution

  • Demonstrate excellence in software troubleshooting, and diagnosing difficult to reproduce issues

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Lead initiatives to enhance process efficiency, customer satisfaction by developing automations

  • Build and maintain a collection of service automation runbooks that can be run from the cloud

  • Build alert and telemetry systems to accelerate issue detection and mitigation

  • Create documentation as appropriate for the automations developed

  • Ensure high quality deliverables

  • Ability to work independently and/or guide other team members to meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated and proactive, possessing strong desire to learn

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in engineering, computer science, or a related degree

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the architecture or manufacturing domain

  • Strong skills in Windows OS, networking, Cloud APIs, virtualization

  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or similar cloud provider is helpful

  • Experience writing script-based automations using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages

  • Experience in Agile Software Development practices and tools (such as Jira, Kanban. Etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent skills in resolving customer problems with an “out of the box” and a “can do” approach

  • Exhibit leadership skills and go beyond on the roles and responsibilities

  • Take ownership and accountability of the tasks and show leadership skills to mentor coach the team whenever required

  • Working experience with any of those CAD products: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Fusion 360, or Inventor.
