EvenUp is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Client Portal team, which is crucial for client engagement through innovative integration architecture and seamless user experiences. This role involves leading a team of software engineers to develop, scale, and maintain the SaaS platform, including APIs and the integration engine. The manager will foster a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture, emphasizing product excellence, rapid iteration, and continuous learning, while solving user pain points and building impactful interfaces.
Must have:
  • Manage and mentor a talented group of software engineers, guiding them through architectural decisions, career growth, and best practices.
  • Own the technical direction for the Client Portal team—designing extensible architecture and driving execution across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Partner with product and design to deliver seamless, performant, and intuitive user experiences.
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders—including Product, Legal, and Operations—to prioritize user needs and deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Set and uphold standards around quality, security, documentation, performance, testing, and observability.
  • Support engineering efforts in architecture and problem-solving while challenging, supporting, and up-leveling the team in these areas.
  • 4+ years of engineering management experience, with a strong track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong understanding of scalability, performance, and security.
  • Experience in building complex SaaS solutions, scalable web portals, resilient public APIs, and experience in integrating with multiple systems across vendors as well as data orchestration.
  • A passion for understanding user needs and translating them into reliable, scalable technical solutions.
  • Able to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to engineers and non-engineers alike.
  • Committed to writing maintainable, well-documented code and enforcing best practices in testing and and reliability while maintaining a fast pace of execution.
  • Experience working across product, design, and business functions to define and execute against a shared roadmap.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with React/TypeScript, Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience in legal tech, AI-driven applications, or other social impact domains.
  • Previous experience in a high-growth startup or building client-facing integration platforms.

EvenUp is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Client Portal team. This team plays a critical role in shaping how our clients engage with EvenUp’s platform—building innovative integration architecture and seamless user experiences that directly impact customer satisfaction and business outcomes.

You will lead a team of software engineers focused on developing, scaling, and maintaining part of our SaaS platform, including but not only our APIs and our integration engine at the heart of our client portal. Beyond just managing code delivery, you’ll foster a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture that emphasizes product excellence, rapid iteration, and continuous learning. If you’re passionate about solving real user pain points and building interfaces that make a difference, this is your chance to lead from the front.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation of working at least 3 days a week from our downtown Toronto or San Francisco hubs.

What you'll do:
