This role involves leading a senior engineering team focused on enhancing the internal developer experience, specifically concerning Git, code review, and merge systems. The responsibilities include uplifting ownership and code review capabilities to match Canva's rapid growth, driving improvements in merge queue infrastructure handling over 1,000 pull requests daily, and scaling the Git stack for better velocity and performance. Collaboration with Infra and DevX teams is key to ensure seamless tooling experiences, and the role also supports consolidating monorepos and facilitating major company launches. The ideal candidate is strategic, pragmatic, and enjoys solving large-scale technical challenges.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

This role will see you:

  • Leading a senior team of engineers to improve our internal developer experience across Git, code review, and merge systems

  • Uplifting our Ownership and Code Review capabilities to scale with Canva’s rapid growth

  • Driving improvements to merge queue infrastructure that handles over 1,000 PRs daily

  • Scaling our Git stack to support velocity and performance

  • Collaborating across Infra and DevX to ensure seamless tooling experiences

  • Consolidating monorepos and supporting major company launches
