Job Description

As the Business Development Leader supporting AMER, you will build on a strong foundation while charting the path forward. You will lead a team of BDRs and one direct manager, working hand in hand with sales leaders across Mid-Market, Enterprise, and Strategic segments, and cross-functionally with Ops, Enablement, and Marketing. This role blends hiring, coaching, strategy, and cross-functional coordination, focusing on identifying growth opportunities and supporting revenue generation across multiple markets, managing a team, collaborating with global stakeholders, and strategically fostering new business relationships.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with tools like Salesforce, LinkedIn Navigator, ZoomInfo, or similar.
Must Have:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a manager plus a team of Business Development professionals, coaching to weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand Canva's sales pipeline presence in the North American region.
  • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and business opportunities that drive growth and revenue in these regions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, Customer Success, and Marketing Operations.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to provide insights and recommendations for business expansion and product development.
  • Coach a team to establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and industry partners using a specific and relevant Sales Process.
  • 3-5 Years of Business Development Manager experience with a consistent track record of performance against metrics.
  • 1-2 Years of experience in 2nd line leadership.
  • 3-5 Years of experience in B2B SaaS sales with a track record of success selling to MidMarket and Enterprise customers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Strong track record in setting and achieving outreach, pipeline, and conversion KPIs.
  • Passion for hiring and developing talent.
  • Passion for experimenting with how we can leverage AI to drive efficiency and impact.

About the Role/Specialty

As the Business Development Leader supporting AMER—you’ll build on a strong foundation while charting our path forward. You’ll lead a team of BDRs and one direct manager, and work hand in hand with sales leaders across Mid-Market, Enterprise, and Strategic segments. You’ll also work cross-functionally with Ops, Enablement, and Marketing. This is a role that blends hiring, coaching, strategy, and cross-functional coordination. Your primary focus will be to identify growth opportunities, and support revenue generation across multiple markets. This role will involve managing a team, collaborating with global stakeholders, and strategically fostering new business relationships.

What you’ll do

  • You will lead, mentor, and manage a manager plus a team of Business Development professionals, coaching to weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics alongside support and mentorship to ensure their success.
  • You will develop and implement strategies to expand Canva's sales pipeline presence in the North American region.
  • You will identify and cultivate strategic partnerships and business opportunities that drive growth and revenue in these regions.
  • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success, and Marketing Operations to ensure alignment and successful execution of business development strategies.

What we're looking for

  • 3-5 Years of Business Development Manager experience with a consistent track record of performance against metrics

  • 3-5 Years of experience in B2B SaaS sales with a track record of success selling to MidMarket and Enterprise customers
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Strong track record in setting and achieving outreach, pipeline, and conversion KPIs.
