Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Fashion Designer at New Theory Clothing in Kanpur. The Fashion Designer will be responsible for tasks such as embroidery, fashion design, fitting, textiles, and overall fashion creation, contributing to the unique and creative designs of the brand.
Key Responsibility:
- Actively participate in market study to identify current trends, competition study, aspiration study seeking print and pattern inspiration.
- Deeply understand brand and customer profiling to address the relevant market opportunities with relevant concepts
- Actively research about new techniques in print and graphics through vendor visits and trends study
- Analyze gathered data from Market visits and past sell though data to arrive at the print and graphics inspiration for the season
- Participate in the pre-season discussion with Design Team, Product Development post Market Visit and arrive at the broad design direction and season trend application
- Develop innovate and inspiring concepts for prints and graphics and review with Graphic Designer to develop a coherent story
- Provide concept boards and graphic artwork to communicate seasonal surface design concepts, with a specialized focus on prints, patterns and graphics to internal team
- Based on the approved storyline, develop the pattern/print/ graphic along with vendor using the right techniques ; Handover the patterns to Design team
- Assess and approve Strike offs and Labdip on time for Raw Materials (RMs); Follow-through for any deviations in RMs
- Assess and approve first of bulk to ensure all prints, color's, graphics are as per specs shared; Follow-through for any deviations
- Review product sell -through, customer feedback and return analysis to make necessary changes to the product aesthetics.
Qualifications-
- 2+ years minimum experience required with a degree in Apparel Design or equivalent professional experience; combination of industry experience (both in fashion and activewear)
- Knowledge and experience in all product classes (Outerwear, Sweaters, Cut & Sew Knits, Wovens, Bras & Leggings, etc)
- Strong understanding of cross-functional team accountabilities and requirements; including close working relationship with design, raw materials, finished goods sourcing, quality assurance and merchandising.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator
- Accustomed to working in a fast paced environment with a dynamic workflow and overlapping seasons
- Have a strong desire to learn and remain in curiosity
