Job Description

The Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for managing fixed asset schedules for monthly reporting and tax purposes, assisting with budget preparation, and handling all related fixed asset data. Key duties include maintaining accurate records for additions, retirements, disposals, and depreciation, performing depreciation runs in SAP, and reconciling accounts. The role requires an Associate's degree with 2 years of bookkeeping experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, along with proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have:
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and Quality System guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Fixed Asset addition, retirement, disposal, impairment and depreciation information
  • Assist with annual internal fixed asset physical inventory count
  • Ensure shipping and freight are added to capitalized asset cost and use tax is accrued
  • Ensure all CAPEX additions are approved and posted to correct General Ledger Accounts, Cost Centers and/or Project
  • Ensure all purchases are approved and supported with CAPEX bids and appropriate e-requestor approvals
  • Responsible for maintaining all Fixed Asset records and files
  • Assist with budgeting CAPEX for non-install base assets
  • Perform the depreciation run in SAP for each period end close, prepare the Fixed Asset roll forward and the COFIS upload file
  • Provide all appropriate Fixed Asset reports for month, quarter and year-end close, reconcile Fixed Asset sub-ledger accounts and General Ledger Accounts
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Assist with month-end close activities and related journal entries
  • Serve as a backup to the Install Base Specialist
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment) OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Experience with Fixed Asset accounting in an ERP system
Good to have:
  • SAP experience

Description

The Fixed Asset Accountant will provide fixed asset schedules for monthly reporting, tax schedules in addition, assist with budget preparation and any fixed asset data as required.

Primary Duties:

1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of company’s Quality System.

2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date Fixed Asset addition, retirement, disposal, impairment and depreciation information for all non-install base assets.

3. Assist with annual internal fixed asset physical inventory count.

4. Ensure that shipping and freight are added to the capitalized asset cost (reclass if necessary) and use tax is accrued if appropriate.

5. Ensure all CAPEX additions are approved and posted to correct General Ledger Accounts, Cost Centers and/or Project (if applicable) according to accounting guidelines and departmental instructions.

6. Ensure all purchases are approved and supported with CAPEX bids and appropriate e-requestor approvals.

7. Responsible for maintaining all Fixed Asset records and files.

8. Assist with budgeting CAPEX for non-install base assets as required.

9. Perform the depreciation run in SAP for each period end close, prepare the Fixed Asset roll forward and the COFIS upload file.

10. Provide all appropriate Fixed Asset reports (as requested) for month, quarter and year-end close, reconcile Fixed Asset sub-ledger accounts and General Ledger Accounts as assigned.

11. Assist with internal and external audits as required.

12. Assist with month-end close activities and related journal entries as required.

13. Serve as a backup to the Install Base Specialist.

14. Accounting duties including general office duties, such as copying and filing.

15. Other accounting duties as assigned.

16. Other special projects as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required, with a minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
  • OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting qualifies in place of experience, no prior bookkeeping experience required.
  • Experience with Fixed Asset accounting in an ERP system, SAP preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Skills in Excel, Word, E-Mail and Internet
