The Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning Test Engineering organizations are crucial for Apple product success, supporting Metal, AAA Gaming, and Apple Silicon. This team ensures high-quality gaming experiences on macOS, iOS, and tvOS, working with engineering and third-party developers. The role focuses on developing and executing automation for graphics, display, and game technologies, requiring strong technical aptitude, interpersonal skills, and collaboration.
Must have:
  • Write automation to validate game workflows on all systems
  • Responsible for competitive awareness for games on all systems
  • Automate and scale performance testing on games such that tests can be run on a regular basis
  • Secondary: Manual testing and regression analysis
Good to have:
  • AI/ML for QA: Familiarity with applying AI/ML techniques for anomaly detection, visual comparison, or pattern recognition in gameplay and rendered frames
  • Understanding and knowledge of Graphics Pipeline
  • Experience with Professional Rendering Software (3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.) a plus

The Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning Test Engineering organizations plays a meaningful role in the success and delivery of nearly every major Apple product. The engineering teams we support have brought the world Metal, AAA Gaming on both Mac and iOS, 3rd Party game controller support, Apple Silicon on Mac, and impressive GPU performance. We are the test arm of our engineering teams, working closely to develop, test, and execute test plans, while also partnering with engineering through development cycles, evolving our testing as needed to ensure the product and experience meets Apple’s highest quality standards.

The Graphics, Games, and Machine Learning team is seeking an expert, self-motivated test engineer with a real passion for not just gaming but making the macOS, iOS, and tvOS gaming experience the best it can be. You will work with the latest Apple products, ensuring that the gaming experience is the best for our platform and competitive with other gaming platforms. In this role, test efforts will target graphics, gaming technologies, and the overall gaming experience across all platforms. Partnering with both engineering teams, and third party game developers to ensure product quality. This role will primarily focus on the development and execution of automation to support gaming on both HW and SW features for graphics technology (Metal), display technologies, and game technologies, to name a few. The successful candidate should have a strong aptitude for learning new technologies, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to drive sophisticated and robust automation projects. Strong collaboration with engineering teams and an ability to thrive under pressure are key skills required to succeed in this role.

  • Write automation to validate game workflows on all systems.

  • Secondary: Manual testing and regression analysis
  • iOS and macOS power user
  • Excellent problem solving and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Solid understanding of UNIX-based systems and command-line tools for debugging, analysis, and automation
  • Experienced in Python automation and testing.
  • Experience in Swift
  • Experience in building automated tests and working with automation test harnesses
  • Creative thinker and passionate about quality
  • Passionate about gaming and the gaming experience
  • Testing Methodologies: Solid understanding of QA methodologies, bug life cycles, and both manual and automated regression testing and analysis
  • Fluency of Software Development Lifecycle
  • AI/ML for QA: Familiarity with applying AI/ML techniques for anomaly detection, visual comparison, or pattern recognition in gameplay and rendered frames.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Graphics Pipeline
  • Experience with Professional Rendering Software (3ds Max, Blender, Cinema 4D, etc.) a plus
