Job Summary

HP IQ's Wireless Team is seeking an RF Hardware Engineering Intern for Summer 2026. This role involves contributing to best-in-class wireless devices by focusing on electromagnetic design to mitigate radio interference. The intern will learn and develop RF algorithms to improve system performance, including battery life and link quality, and support the product development lifecycle from concept to production. Responsibilities include designing RF subsystems, planning validation, defining link budgets, and assisting in mass production.

Must Have

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer and Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong EE, RF, and Antenna fundamentals.
  • Completed RF, electromagnetics, and antenna coursework.
  • Experience with lab equipment like spectrum analyzers and VNAs for validation, prototyping, and design.
  • Experience with scripting (Python, C++ etc).

Good to Have

  • Hands-on research experience in an EE/RF lab.
  • Experience shipping high volume consumer electronics products.
  • A desire to work in a collaborative environment where honesty and accountability are paramount.
  • Ability to drive tasks independently and escalate and communicate issues and needs clearly.

About The Role

IQ's Wireless Team works cross-functionally with system integration, hardware, software, product design, program management, and operations to deliver a successful product to market. As an RF Hardware Engineering Intern on the team, you will contribute to a best-in-class wireless device by focusing on electromagnetic design to mitigate radio interference. You will also learn about and develop RF algorithms to improve system performance, including battery life and link quality. You will support the product development lifecycle from concept to production.

2026 Internship Program Dates: May/June-August/September 2026. Final dates based on student schedule.

What You Might Do

  • Design and architect RF subsystems including desense, coexistence and OTA performance
  • Plan validation of your designs: lead functional verification and system coexistence testing using automated scripts, simulate using EM tools, and debug hands-on with lab equipment
  • Define and validate RF system level link budget, considering antenna design and coexistence
  • Bring your design to mass production by setting factory test requirements, developing factory test fixtures and platforms, and assisting in system bring-up

Essential Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer and Electrical Engineering
  • Strong EE, RF and Antenna fundamentals
  • RF, electromagnetics and antenna coursework
  • Experience working with lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers and VNAs for validation, hands-on prototyping and design
  • Experience with scripting (Python, C++ etc)

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on research experience in EE/RF lab
  • Experience shipping high volume consumer electronics products
  • A desire to work in a collaborative environment where honesty and accountability are paramount

Salary Range: $45-$48/per hour

Compensation & Benefits (Full-Time Employees)

The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills.
