Job Description

The Head of Data Operations is a senior role within the Rainmaker Data Team, responsible for managing day-to-day operations, workflow, and deadlines, as well as managing people and processes. This role ensures high standards of data quality and directly contributes to the company by providing data and market intelligence on the financial services industry in Australia. The responsibilities include managing data team members, assisting with data processes, training, recruitment and onboarding, performance review management, maintaining account and contact data, assisting with data collection, auditing and reporting, researching websites and annual reports, maintaining relationships with data suppliers, and internal and external stakeholder communication.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of data management in financial services
  • 5+ years experience managing direct reports
  • Experience working with CRM systems
  • Strong data research skills
  • Strong MS Office skills
Good to have:
  • Ability to build rapport with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage with sensitivity, empathy, and empowerment
  • Well organized and proactive

Overview

The Head of Data Operations is a senior role within the Rainmaker Data Team, including managing day to day operations and workflow, managing people and processes, ensuring high standards of Data quality, and directly contributing to the company in the provision of Data and market intelligence on the financial services industry in Australia.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Data, this position provides the opportunity to grow your management skills, data skills and expertise on the financial services industry across key businesses, products and people.

Working within a long-established Data Team where members are passionate about data, financial services and researching. Each team member will have access to professional learning material, professional software, industry events and media titles to support their growth and expand their knowledge of the financial services industry in Australia.

About Rainmaker Information: the company was founded in 1992, and is a leading provider of data, insights, research and media on the financial services industry in Australia. Rainmaker is part of Institutional Shareholder Services’ Market Intelligence (ISS MI) business unit.

Responsibilities

They include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of Data team members

  • Managing day to day operations, workflow and deadlines

  • Using expertise and experience to achieve high standards of Data quality

  • Assisting with Data processes, training, recruitment and onboarding

  • Performance review management of direct reports

  • Maintain Account and Contact Data

  • Assisting with Data collection, auditing and reporting

  • Researching websites, annual reports, and other sources for information

  • Maintaining relationships with data suppliers and liaising with them to ensure good flow of data

  • Communication of tasks, progress, successes, and deadlines

  • Internal stakeholder communication

  • Reading key media titles on the Australian financial services market

  • Participating in an ongoing professional learning and development program in financial services

Qualifications

  • Required Skills:

    • 5 or more years’ experience with Data management in the financial services industry

    • 5 or more years’ experience with managing direct reports, Data processes and deadlines

    • Experience working with CRM systems

    • Passionate about Data and financial services

    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

    • Strong Data research skills

    • Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel

    • Strong communication skills

  • Preferred Skills:

    • Ability to build a strong rapport with colleagues and stakeholders

    • Ability to manage with sensitivity, empathy and empowerment

    • Well organised and pro-active
