Job Description

This role, Head of Global Government Affairs, involves managing legal and tax professionals to provide counsel, resolve disputes, and protect Broadcom's assets and technology. The leader will direct and control activities across a broad functional area globally, developing corporate policies, managing budgets, and impacting P&L. The position requires in-depth knowledge of Broadcom to address complex issues and ensure projects meet corporate requirements, with decisions having a serious impact on organizational success.
Must Have:
  • Manage attorneys or other tax professionals providing legal services and counsel.
  • Represent Broadcom in litigation, audits, government agencies, and negotiations.
  • Coordinate legal or tax matters handled by outside counsel.
  • Handle general corporate matters, corporate organization, and securities compliance.
  • Draft transaction documents, license agreements, and manage employment/immigration law.
  • Direct and control activities of a broad functional area or major product group globally.
  • Develop corporate and/or organizational policies and authorize their implementation.
  • Make decisions on administrative or operational matters, including staff and budgets.
  • Work on complex issues requiring in-depth knowledge of Broadcom.
  • Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
  • Ensure budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
  • Minimum of 18 years of overall experience, with at least 6 years in management.

Job Description:

Head of Government Affairs:

Manages attorneys or other tax professionals who: provide legal services and counsel to entities, managers and employees to resolve or prevent problems or disputes and to protect assets, technology and design freedom; represents in litigation or audits, before government agencies and in negotiations; coordinate legal or tax matters handled by outside counsel. Responsibilities include general corporate matters, corporate organization, securities compliance, drafting transaction documents, license agreements, employment law, immigration law, regulatory matters and risk management matters.

Scope: Lead strategies globally

  • Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area or a major product group within a Business Unit.
  • Recognized as an influential leader within a function or Business Unit or Company.
  • Detailed knowledge of company allows for innovative concepts and promoting new ideas.
  • Manages teams located in more than one site within a region or globally.
  • Develops corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation.
  • Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters including staff and budgets.
  • Direct control over spend budget
  • Impact on P&L activities.
  • Movement into this level requires approval from the CEO and VP of HR - Job

Complexity:

  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations across functional areas, or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company.
  • Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas.
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

Discretion:

  • Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional or organizational operations (may potentially impact the company's success).

Reporting Relationship:

  • Typically reports to a Vice President. - Experience:
  • Minimum of 18 years of overall experience of which a minimum of 6 years is in management.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $160,300 - $256,500

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
