About the Opportunity
The Head of Product Compliance will lead the compliance oversight for OKX's global product offerings, ensuring all products comply with global regulatory requirements and internal risk frameworks. This role will be a commercial driver and strategic leader responsible for embedding a robust, yet agile and risk-based compliance framework into OKX's product ecosystem. This role is a critical function in the product lifecycle - from ideation and development to launch and post-release monitoring - ensuring that compliance risks are identified, assessed, and effectively mitigated. The ideal candidate will act as a strategic partner to Product, Engineering, Legal, and Risk teams, safeguarding the firm while enabling product innovation and translating complex global regulatory requirements into clear, commercially viable, and scalable product design strategies.
Key Objectives:
- Act as a trusted advisor to product and business teams to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into product design and operations by driving solutions that balance commercial outcomes and innovation while maintaining a robust compliance posture using a clear risk-based approach.
- Establish a comprehensive, efficient, and streamlined product compliance framework to oversee the regulatory compliance of all existing and new crypto products.
- Optimize compliance processes (e.g., risk assessments, sign-offs) for efficiency and scalability, ensuring high compliance standards without sacrificing business agility.
- Act as a strategic compliance advisor to product and cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance considerations are integrated from the inception phase to enable 'compliance-by-design' and reduce time-to-market.
- Maintain a strong focus on evolving global regulatory landscapes to provide proactive, solution-oriented guidance on their impact, particularly on multi-jurisdictional product scaling.
What You'll Be Doing
Agile Product Compliance Framework & Risk-Based Advisory
- Design and implement the firm’s product compliance framework, ensuring end-to-end coverage of compliance risks across all products by seeking efficiency and automation potential in governance and approval workflows.
- Serve as the embedded commercial compliance partner to product managers, providing clear, actionable, and solution-focused advice during the product lifecycle.
- Review technical documentation, user journeys, and product flows to ensure compliance risks are addressed.
- Lead the pre-launch risk-based assessment process for all new products and material updates, focusing on high-impact risks (e.g., AML/CFT, sanctions, market abuse/integrity, investor protection) and delivering a streamlined and efficient decision path.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Legal, Risk, Engineering) to interpret complex regulations and translate them into simple, pragmatic and scalable product and control requirements/designs.
- Develop clear policies and procedures governing product development, clearly defining the minimum viable compliance requirements.
- Ensure products meet the requirements of applicable global regulations (e.g., US CFTC, US FinCEN, MFSA MiCA, UK FCA, SG MAS, Dubai VARA, etc.), focusing on the practical implications for the product's functionality and user experience.
Continuous Monitoring & Risk Management
- Oversee a data-driven post-launch monitoring approach of product controls and performance against compliance obligations
- Collaborate with the compliance assurance team to design and execute targeted, risk-focused testing programs that validate the effectiveness and efficiency of product compliance controls.
- Identify, escalate, and remediate compliance issues, ensuring continuous improvement of product controls.
Strategic Leadership & Training
- Act as the subject matter expert during regulatory exams or audits, focused on clearly demonstrating the firm's risk-based decision-making rationale in product design and compliance.
- Develop and deliver impactful, business-contextualized training for Product and Engineering teams, fostering a culture where compliance is viewed as a competitive advantage and design necessity.
What We Look For In You
