FlowPlay is a leading developer of online virtual worlds and casual free-to-play games, known for titles like Vegas World and Casino World. They are a privately held, Seattle-based company with an authentic, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and people-first culture. The HR Manager will lead all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and culture-building, operating independently and advising leadership to foster a positive employee experience.
Must have:

  • Partner with Head of Studio and ownership group to align HR strategy with business goals.
  • Own the full-cycle recruitment process, leveraging BreezyHR.
  • Conduct new hire Onboarding meetings and manage benefits enrollment.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers, fostering a healthy culture.
  • Implement and oversee performance review cycles and feedback mechanisms.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and labor laws, including ownership of Employee Handbook.
  • Manage HRIS systems (Rippling) and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Lead annual open enrollment, benefits administration, and leave programs.
  • Meet regularly with leadership to report on HR metrics, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Advise on sensitive personnel matters and contribute to long-term strategic planning.

Job Overview

The HR Manager will lead all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and culture-building. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring someone who can operate independently, advise leadership, and foster a positive employee experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner with the Head of Studio and ownership group to align HR strategy with business goals.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on organizational structure, talent planning, and workforce development.
  • Partner with the HR team at our parent company to align strategies and resources.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Own the full-cycle recruitment process, leveraging BreezyHR to attract, assess, and hire top talent.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to define roles, improve job descriptions, and ensure smooth onboarding.
  • Conduct new hire Onboarding meetings and manage the benefits enrollment process for new hires.

Employee Relations & Culture

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers.
  • Foster a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Mediate conflicts and support resolution processes with fairness and discretion.
  • Lead monthly “fun committee” meetings and help to plan and lead company events/celebrations.

Performance & Development

  • Implement and oversee performance review cycles and feedback mechanisms.
  • Support career development, training initiatives, and manager coaching.

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Ensure compliance with policies and labor laws, including ownership of Employee Handbook.
  • Manage HRIS systems (Rippling) and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Lead annual open enrollment, benefits administration, and leave programs.

Leadership Engagement

  • Meet regularly with leadership and the ownership group to report on HR metrics, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Advise on sensitive personnel matters and contribute to long-term strategic planning.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a startup, gaming, or creative industry.
  • Experience conducting employee investigations and preparing investigative summaries.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and organizational development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with HRIS and recruiting systems (Rippling, BreezyHR, or comparable platforms).
  • Comfort with data-driven decision-making and HR metrics.

Compensation includes a base salary of $130,000-150,000 + bonus + equity.
