Synechron is seeking a skilled IBM Transaction Manager (FTM) Developer to design, develop, and maintain transaction processing solutions for banking/financial systems. The role involves customizing FTM components, integrating with core banking applications and middleware like WebSphere and MQ, and ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure transaction processing. Responsibilities include coding, testing, performance tuning, deployment assistance, and ongoing support, while adhering to best practices.
Must have:
  • Design, develop, and customize IBM Transaction Manager (FTM) components (workflows, rules, processing modules).
  • Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, and QA teams.
  • Develop integration points between IBM FTM, core banking applications, middleware (WebSphere, MQ), and third-party systems.
  • Modify and enhance FTM components like workflow engines, transaction queues, and scripting features.
  • Write clean, modular, and maintainable code adhering to coding standards.
  • Conduct unit testing, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Perform performance tuning, workload balancing, and optimization of transaction workflows.
  • Assist in deploying, configuring, and executing migration activities.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing FTM implementations, resolving incidents.
  • Stay informed about the latest IBM FTM features, patches, and industry best practices.
Good to have:
  • Certifications related to IBM FTM, middleware platforms, or related technologies.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Jython, JavaScript, Groovy) for customizing transaction workflows.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices around transaction system deployments and management.
  • Knowledge of other transaction processing frameworks, ORMs, or related middleware solutions.
  • Hands-on experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like IBM Cloud or hybrid deployment models.
  • Understanding of security standards and protocols relevant to banking and financial systems (encryption, PCI-DSS).
  • Previous experience with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Additional domain knowledge in retail banking, payments, or financial transactions.

Our challenge

We are seeking a skilled IBM Transaction Manager (FTM) Developer to design, develop, and maintain transaction processing solutions within our banking/financial systems. The ideal candidate possesses hands-on technical expertise in IBM FTM, with a focus on building reliable, scalable, and secure transaction processing modules.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $120k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and customize IBM Transaction Manager (FTM) components, including workflows, rules, and processing modules in line with business specifications.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, and quality assurance teams to interpret requirements and deliver effective transaction processing solutions.
  • Develop integration points between IBM FTM and core banking applications, middleware (WebSphere, MQ), and third-party systems to ensure smooth data exchange.
  • Modify and enhance FTM components such as workflow engines, transaction queues, and scripting features for optimal performance.
  • Write clean, modular, and maintainable code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  • Conduct unit testing, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the delivery of high-quality transaction processing modules.
  • Perform performance tuning, workload balancing, and optimization of transaction workflows for reliability and scalability.
  • Assist in deploying, configuring, and executing migration activities across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing FTM implementations, resolving incidents and addressing technical challenges proactively.
  • Stay informed about the latest IBM FTM features, patches, and industry best practices to continually improve solutions.

Requirements:

  • Develop and configure IBM Transaction Manager (FTM) workflows, rules, and processes according to functional specifications.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, solution architects, and QA teams to translate requirements into working solutions.
  • Integrate FTM with other banking applications, middleware (e.g., WebSphere, MQ), and third-party systems.
  • Customize FTM components such as workflow engine, transaction queues, and scripting elements.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to coding standards.
  • Perform unit testing, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality delivery.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of transaction processing workflows.
  • Assist in deployment, configuration, and migration activities in development, testing, and production environments.
  • Support existing FTM implementations, troubleshoot incidents, and resolve technical problems.
  • Keep updated with IBM FTM product features, patches, and industry best practices.

Preferred, but not required:

  • Certifications related to IBM FTM, middleware platforms, or related technologies.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Jython, JavaScript, or Groovy for customizing transaction workflows.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices around transaction system deployments and management.
