VGW is seeking an Illustrator for their Golden Feather Studios team in Sydney. This role involves creating high-quality visual assets for first-party slot games, translating game ideas into engaging, production-ready artwork. Key responsibilities include developing game art like symbols, backgrounds, and UI elements using Adobe Photoshop, collaborating with animators on storyboards, and contributing to evolving tools. The ideal candidate will possess strong illustration and graphic design skills, a versatile style, and experience in gaming, preferably slots.

Must Have

• Create game art and assets including symbols, backgrounds, banners, typography, and UI elements
• Translate game ideas into strong visual concepts and polished final art
• Work primarily in Adobe Photoshop within an established production pipeline
• Work closely with animators to provide storyboards for sequencing, transitions and key in game events
• Strong illustration and graphic design capability
• Demonstrated freehand / traditional illustration skill
• Portfolio showing concept sketches through to finished production work
• Versatility of style (ability to render vibrant, high quality artwork in both a realistic and cartoon style, adapt to existing styles)

• Experience in slots (strongly preferred)
• Exposure to AI tools

In this role, you will create high-quality visual assets for our first-party slot games, translating game ideas into clear, engaging, and production-ready artwork.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Create game art and assets including symbols, backgrounds, banners, typography, and UI elements.
• Translate game ideas into strong visual concepts and polished final art.
• Work primarily in Adobe Photoshop within an established production pipeline.
• Work closely with animators to provide storyboards for sequencing, transitions and key in game events.
• Use AI-assisted workflows to accelerate concepting and iteration where appropriate.
• Contribute ideas and improvements to help the team keep pace with evolving tools and player expectations.

What you will bring to the role:

• Strong illustration and graphic design capability.
• Demonstrated freehand / traditional illustration skill.
• Portfolio showing concept sketches through to finished production work.
• Versatility of style (ability to render vibrant, high quality artwork in both a realistic and cartoon style. Display an ability to adapt to any number of existing styles).
• Experience in slots is strongly preferred, but exceptional candidates from gaming or adjacent industries will be considered.
• Comfort working in a small, collaborative team with high trust and low ego.
• Exposure to AI tools is a plus.
