Vacancy Highlight:
WRI Brazil is looking for a manager with experience in topics related to emissions accounting and greenhouse gas removals in the industry and energy sector, decarbonization routes, production and use of bioenergy (ethanol, biogas, biomethane), use of emission certificates (e.g., gas rec, irec) and policies to encourage emission reduction. This person will be responsible for the data and project management and governance processes related to industrial decarbonization and energy transition at WRI Brazil. The position requires extensive knowledge of greenhouse gas emission accounting practices, industrial decarbonization and the energy transition agenda in the country, in addition to extensive experience in collaboration with Brazilian or international institutions, such as governments, civil society and the private sector, whether in guiding and leading studies and research, or in influencing public policies.
Main activities and/or responsibilities:
- Manage and develop people aiming at building and maintaining a highly qualified, cohesive and collaborative team
- Manage the implementation of projects and activities, including research, aligned with the WRI strategy, guiding people, content and defining deliverables;
- Monitor and participate in interfaces with funding and implementing partners of WRI Brazil and global Climate projects;
- Promote collaborative relationships with government and industry representatives in Brazil to support actions and strategies associated with Industrial Decarbonization and Energy Transition;
- Promote collaborative and partnership relationships with the main universities, research centers in the country and industry;
- Build coalitions and manage successful partnerships for project execution;
- Prepare narrative reports, monitor budgets and financial reports for donors and other related parties;
- Support fundraising and projects associated with Industrial Decarbonization and Energy Transition;
- Support and guide the development of research, in addition to the elaboration and implementation of studies;
Required Qualifications
- Background in areas related to Decarbonization and Energy Transition (Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Sustainability, Biology, Agronomy, etc.)
- Master's and/or doctorate, in natural/environmental sciences or economics (desirable);
- Desirable 10 years of experience in project management related to sustainability and emissions accounting for the industry/energy sector;
- Knowledge of the corporate GHG protocol initiative and guidelines, as well as experience in implementing projects aligned with GHG Protocol principles.
- Fluent English (good written and verbal communication);
- Strong network of relationships and partners;
- Excellent leadership skills, ability to motivate and manage teams and processes, to achieve their maximum potential and significant results;
- Excellent ability to communicate clearly and convincingly to a wide range of audiences, especially high-level decision-makers from government, the private sector, the media and civil society;
- Collaborative behavior and good people and resource management skills;
- Proven ability to provide vision and strategic approach in daily work.
