ALTEN Technology USA is seeking an Injection Molding Design Engineer to join their team. This role involves bringing groundbreaking ideas to life, from space exploration to medical devices. The engineer will collaborate on challenging engineering projects, supported by mentorship and career growth. Key responsibilities include mold design, plastics processing, tooling design, and proficiency in SolidWorks and Mold Flow Analysis. The position requires strong technical skills in project management, data analysis, and risk assessment, contributing to the full product development cycle.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or related field, or relevant equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in mold design / procurement and plastics processing experience is required.
  • Tooling design experience of injection molds is required.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and understanding of Mold Flow Analysis tools is required.
  • Excellent technical skills including project management, organization, planning, and capital budgets relating to mold procurement and verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and data analysis methods.
  • Experience leading projects end to end.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Risk analysis / FMEA and Statistical analysis / SPC system.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, and to develop and maintain tool qualification schedules.
Good to have:
  • Master Molder Certification desired.
  • Previous experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards and Lean Manufacturing concepts desired.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated quality environment desired.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or related field, or relevant equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years in mold design / procurement and plastics processing experience is required.
  • Tooling design experience of injection molds is required.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and understanding of Mold Flow Analysis tools is required.
  • Master Molder Certification desired.
  • Excellent technical skills including project management, organization, planning, and capital budgets relating to mold procurement and verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply problem solving and data analysis methods.
  • Previous experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards and Lean Manufacturing concepts desired.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated quality environment desired.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
  • Experience leading projects end to end.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Risk analysis / FMEA.
  • Statistical analysis / SPC system.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, and to develop and maintain tool qualification schedules.

Physical requirement:

  • Ability to use a laptop/computer for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) in virtual and/or on-site meetings.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) when conducting FAT, SAT, on-site equipment/process troubleshooting, etc.
  • Ability to climb steps, squat, etc.
  • Ability to work independently in High Volume manufacturing floor.
  • Follow Safety and Quality/GMP requirements for medical device manufacturing site (Safety shoes, safety glasses, hair net, beard net, face mask, hard hat, etc .... as required per manufacturing site).

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
