Intern, Software Engineering

Workato is seeking an Intern, Software Engineering to design and develop intelligent Packaged Genies using Workato’s Agent Studio. This role involves building and configuring Skills for Genies to automate workflows and support business scenarios. The intern will collaborate with engineers, translate business use cases, test and document Genie structures, and explore workflow patterns across various functions to drive efficiency and agility with AI-driven solutions.

Must Have

• Design and develop intelligent Packaged Genies using Workato’s Agent Studio
• Build and configure Skills that enable Genies to take actions, gather information, and complete multi-step tasks
• Translate business use cases into structured Genie behaviors and Skill definitions
• Collaborate with engineers and product leads to review requirements and ensure alignment with established patterns
• Test, refine, and validate Skills for consistency, reliability, and a smooth user experience
• Document Genie structures, Skill logic, and usage guidelines
• Explore workflow patterns across Sales, HR, IT, Finance, and other functions to inform design decisions
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
• Fundamental understanding of programming concepts (conditions, loops, functions, data structures)
• Ability to break down problems logically and think through workflows end-to-end
• Eagerness to learn new tools, platforms, and ways of building AI-driven solutions
• Ability to work independently while being open to guidance and feedback
• Strong interest in AI agents, automation, and modular system design
• Curiosity about how intelligent workflows are assembled using low-code platforms
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and clarity
• Good communication skills and willingness to iterate based on feedback

• Exposure to automation or integration tools
• Familiarity with common business applications (CRM, HRMS, ITSM, etc.)

These Genies rely on thoughtfully crafted Skills that allow them to interact with applications, automate workflows, and support real business scenarios. You will work closely with our team to develop high-quality, reusable components that integrate seamlessly into a broader ecosystem of AI-driven solutions.

You will also be responsible for:

• Building and configuring Skills that enable Genies to take actions, gather information, and complete multi-step tasks.

• Translating business use cases into structured Genie behaviors and Skill definitions.

• Collaborating with engineers and product leads to review requirements and ensure alignment with established patterns.

• Testing, refining, and validating Skills for consistency, reliability, and a smooth user experience.

• Documenting Genie structures, Skill logic, and usage guidelines.

• Exploring workflow patterns across Sales, HR, IT, Finance, and other functions to inform design decisions.

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Skills

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Fundamental understanding of programming concepts (conditions, loops, functions, data structures).

• Ability to break down problems logically and think through workflows end-to-end.

• Eagerness to learn new tools, platforms, and ways of building AI-driven solutions.

• Ability to work independently while being open to guidance and feedback.

• Strong interest in AI agents, automation, and modular system design.

• Curiosity about how intelligent workflows are assembled using low-code platforms.

• Basic understanding of APIs, integrations, or scripting (a plus, not required).

• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and clarity.

• Good communication skills and willingness to iterate based on feedback.

Nice-to-haves:

• Exposure to automation or integration tools.

• Familiarity with common business applications (CRM, HRMS, ITSM, etc.).
