Job Summary

Blazing Griffin is seeking an experienced Lead Finishing & Mastering Technician for a 12-month maternity cover contract in Glasgow. This role involves overseeing the creation, mastering, QC, and delivery of final assets for broadcast and streaming platforms, ensuring the highest creative and technical standards. The successful candidate will lead the finishing and mastering department, maintain delivery standards, support technical workflows, and mentor junior team members on a range of scripted and unscripted projects.

Must Have

  • Oversee and perform final mastering for UK and international broadcast and streaming services, including UHD HDR and IMF packages.
  • Conduct and review quality control (QC) checks to ensure all deliverables meet client, broadcaster, and platform specifications.
  • Produce detailed QC and delivery reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables meet deadlines and technical standards.
  • Lead the finishing and mastering pipeline across DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, and Cortex.
  • Collaborate closely with craft, dubbing, and production management teams to maintain efficient workflows and clear communication across departments.
  • Support the Post Post Production Management teams in meeting delivery requirements.
  • Advise on and implement improvements to finishing workflows, ensuring adherence to industry best practices, technical specifications, and content security policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all deliverables, specifications, and approval stages.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior technicians and finishing assistants where appropriate.
  • Ensure consistent quality and attention to detail across all finishing and mastering tasks.
  • Contribute to departmental training and process documentation.
  • 3+ years of experience in post-production mastering, finishing, or technical operations.
  • Proven experience with DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer, and Cortex.
  • Strong technical knowledge of broadcast and streaming specifications, file formats, codecs, color spaces, and metadata requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working with UHD HDR and IMF workflows.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
