Job Summary
Rockstar Games is seeking an experienced Lead Frontend Engineer to lead a talented and diverse team within their Online Services organization. This role involves working on innovative technology to power Rockstar's online titles and deliver world-class player experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading software engineers, fostering growth, defining objectives, ensuring engineering best practices, and collaborating with various teams to deliver high-impact, scalable web features and connected experiences across game franchises. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and technical skills in web development.
Must Have
- Lead a team of software engineers, fostering growth, innovation, and engineering excellence.
- Guide and mentor the team and collaborate with senior engineers to facilitate problem solving for complex challenges.
- Define objectives and key results for the team, devise plans to meet the objectives, and communicate those via roadmaps to technical leadership.
- Conduct performance evaluations for engineering team members, including regular check-ins to assess progress and re-align where necessary.
- Ensure engineering best practices are consistently applied: including code quality, testing, system design, performance optimization, and observability.
- Partner closely with other teams across Online Services and Rockstar more broadly, to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Production team members to define scope and requirements and schedule future team projects.
- Collaborate with teams from other domains to integrate systems into the wider architecture and design landscape.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical collaborators, focusing on understanding their needs and translating complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable objectives.
- 8+ years of professional web development experience at an enterprise level organization.
- 3+ years leading an engineering team of 4 or more people.
- A degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong sense of ownership, with a proactive nature, and a drive to accomplish objectives and drive a team to success.
- Established leadership skills with track record of building and leveling up strong team members.
- Proven ability to reconcile technical and business perspectives and break down implementation details from product requirements.
- Experience in TypeScript, React and CSS for building modern, secure, highly performant web experiences.
- Experienced using automated test frameworks to ensure quality.
Good to Have
- Experience supporting high traffic websites.
- Experience working closely with UI/UX designers and Content Management systems.
- Appreciation of accessibility standards.
- Experience building applications using micro frontend architecture.
- Experience with C# or Next.js development.
- Knowledge of Rockstar Games titles and a passion for playing video games.

Rockstar Games is seeking an experienced Lead Frontend Engineer to join our Online Services organization, as someone who can lead a talented and diverse team of developers. The successful candidate will be working on innovative technology with an internationally established team, while having great attention to detail, being a strong teammate and having excellent communication skills.

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s NYC headquarters in Downtown Manhattan.

- A strong sense of ownership, with a proactive nature, and a drive to accomplish objectives and drive a team to success.
- Established leadership skills with track record of building and leveling up strong team members.
- Proven ability to reconcile technical and business perspectives and break down implementation details from product requirements.
- Experience in TypeScript, React and CSS for building modern, secure, highly performant web experiences with .NET or Next.js.
- Experienced using automated test frameworks to ensure quality.

The pay range for this position in New York State (inclusive of New York City) at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
