Job Description

As a Lead Game Programmer at KWS Mexico City, you'll shape the technical direction of development projects, build and lead a team of engineers, and ensure high-quality code delivery. You'll collaborate with designers and producers on technical feasibility, maintain technical standards, and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources. Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating risks, problem-solving, effective communication with diverse audiences, and contributing to studio growth plans through business development with the studio head. The role requires strong technical skills in C++, C#, Unreal Engine 4/5, AWS, and experience with major console platforms (Steam, Playstation, Xbox).
Must Have:
  • 10+ years software engineering experience (4+ in leadership)

  • Unreal 4/5, AWS experience
  • Shipped 2-3 console or 4-5 PC titles

Description

As a Lead Game Programmer at KWS Mexico City, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our development projects. You will build a team and lead these talented engineers, ensuring that they have the resources and support they need to deliver high-quality code. You will also collaborate with the studio head to develop business leads and contribute to the studio's growth plans.

Responsibilities: 

  • Technical Leadership: 
  • Define and maintain technical standards and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with game designers and producers to ensure technical feasibility. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies. 
  • Project Management: 
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects. 
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources. 
  • Identify and mitigate risks. 
  • Should be competent presenting technical information to a range of audiences including non-technical audiences 

 

  • Team Management: 
  • Takes an active role in the hiring process with the business and recruitment team for the creation and development of the Game Dev team.
  • Leads a team working on significant and critical projects. Provides both technical and team leadership and mentoring. 

Problem-Solving: 

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement. 
  • Communication: 
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and other departments. 
  • Present technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 
  • Collaborate with the studio head to develop business leads and contribute to the studio's growth plans. 

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years in a leadership role. 
  • Strong proficiency in C++, C#. 
  • Experience with Unreal 4/5, AWS, Steam/PlayStation/Xbox platforms.  
  • Proven track record of shipping at least 2-3 console titles or 4-5 PC titles. 
  • Responsible for delivering projects on budget, on time, to requirements, and with high quality; 
  • Able to analyze and evaluate technical risks within the scope of a project and make judicious recommendations; 
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language; 
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
