Job Description

As a Lead Product Software Engineer, you will independently execute specialized software development tasks, focusing on advanced coding, system design, and optimizing software solutions to enhance product performance and usability. Your expertise will ensure quality outcomes and drive technological innovations for CCH® ProSystem fx® Scan, a tool used by Tax professionals to identify and bookmark client documents. You will work a hybrid schedule, reporting to the Manager, Product Software Engineering.
Must Have:
  • Lead the product release cycle, ensuring adherence to best practices, code reviews, documentation, and defect management
  • Efficiently manage changes and enhancements with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Apply out-of-the-box thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Collaborate with architects and product owners to design and implement innovative solutions, providing accurate estimates
  • Work with IT Operations to deploy, monitor, and tune performance of applications
  • Identify optimal technologies to solve business problems, including evaluating AI tools and off-the-shelf applications
  • Create POCs and collaborate with architects to strategize development and build technical roadmaps
  • Design and develop web and service-oriented applications, setting expectations and feature priorities throughout the development lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain Windows Services for background processing and long-running tasks
  • Build and consume secure, scalable services using WCF (Windows Communication Foundation)
  • Ensure application security by collaborating with the Security Champion team to identify and remediate vulnerabilities
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and participate in training and educational opportunities
  • Mentor and support team members through training, guidance, and coaching
  • Apply Test Driven Development (TDD) practices with a strong focus on unit testing and code coverage
  • Contribute to Release and PI planning activities
  • Lead refinement sessions and provide technical insights for planned features
  • Promote best design practices and continuous product improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software application development, with at least 3 years in a Technical Lead role
  • Expertise in C#, .NET Core/.NET Framework, C++, Web API, SQL Server, SQLite, and Angular/AngularJS for building scalable enterprise applications
  • Strong experience with WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) and Windows Services for secure, service-oriented architecture and background processing
  • Proficiency in RESTful APIs, PowerShell, Visual Studio, and Git, with hands-on experience in CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps
  • Solid understanding of Azure Cloud services, including App Service, Service Bus, Azure Functions, Event Grid, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Queue, and Key Vault
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker, AKS, and CaaS, and experience with API Management
  • Exposure to microservices, event-driven architectures, and automated testing frameworks
  • Working knowledge of AI technologies, including prompt engineering, Generative AI (GenAI), LLMs, SLMs, VLMs, OCR integration, and Microsoft Document Intelligence
  • Experience integrating AI-driven features and collaborating on training and fine-tuning AI models
  • Strong skills in code optimization, multi-threading, scalability, application security, and performance tuning
  • Deep understanding of Software Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
  • Passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing, and fostering team growth
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer focus and a proactive approach to problem-solving

As the Lead Product Software Engineer, you will independently execute specialized software development tasks. Your role will involve advanced coding, system design, and optimizing software solutions that enhance our products' performance and usability. Your expertise will ensure quality outcomes and drive technological innovations.

In this role you will report to the Manager, Product Software Engineering, and work a hybrid work schedule (2 days in office, 3 days from home).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product release cycle, ensuring adherence to best practices, code reviews, documentation, and defect management.
  • Efficiently manage changes and enhancements with a focus on continuous improvement.
