Job Description

The Lead Solutions Engineer will work with the Sales team to present TRMS solutions to prospective clients in capital markets, acting as a subject matter expert and technical advisor. Responsibilities include custom development for demonstrations, assisting with Proof-Of-Concept projects, and representing the company at events. This role involves producing architecture designs, leading technical workshops, and expanding internal use-cases to drive the growth of the CWAN TRMS business in EMEA.
Must have:
  • Work directly with the Sales team to present TRMS solutions/proposals to prospective clients
  • Act as a subject matter expert and technical advisor to the sales organisation and prospective clients
  • Responsible for custom development work to deliver targeted demonstrations of product capabilities
  • Work alongside Professional Services teams to deliver successful Proof-Of-Concept / Proof-Of-Value projects
  • Represent CWAN at trade shows, conferences, etc.
  • Produce high-level architecture design/solution proposals as part of the sales cycle
  • Lead deeper technical workshops with prospects
  • Assist and advise internal and external teams for POC/POV projects, including hands-on custom Python development
  • Expand the internal inventory of demonstrable use-cases and configurations
  • Build internal prototypes and proof-of-concept examples to demonstrate product power and flexibility
  • Assist with technical responses to prospect inquiries such as RFI/RFP and live Q&A
  • Perform live demonstration of custom solutions to prospective clients
  • 10+ years’ experience as a software developer or engineering manager responsible for building risk management systems
  • 2+ years’ experience developing in Python
  • Familiarity with pre/post-trade risk-management needs of various personas within financial markets
  • Familiarity and experience with risk management for portfolios of Commodities futures, derivatives, and physical transactions
  • Familiarity and experience with energy products such as Oil, Power, Natural Gas and Renewable Energy Certificates
  • Knowledge and understanding of the typical technology infrastructure, functional dependencies and business requirements of major institutions
  • Ability to bring appropriate knowledge and creativity to clients’ challenges and specify concrete proposals
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to articulate technical details
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Must be based in London and willing to visit prospect offices as required, including international travel
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices
Good to have:
  • Previous experience in a sales engineering / solutions consulting role
  • Prior hands-on familiarity with SecDb at Goldman Sachs, Athena at JP Morgan or Quartz at Bank of America Merrill Lynch
  • Familiarity with AWS, and other modern public cloud platforms
  • Experience with other major commodities such as metals and agricultural products
  • Experience with multiple other major asset classes (such as rates, FX, credit, equities)
  • Experience and familiarity with the different needs across types of financial institutions (buy-side, sell-side, asset managers, trading houses, energy utilities)

Description:

  • Senior Solutions Engineers work directly with the Sales team to present TRMS solutions/proposals to prospective clients in different areas of capital markets such as trading houses, banks, hedge funds and other asset managers.
  • You will be a subject matter expert and technical advisor to the sales organisation, and to prospective clients.
  • You will be responsible for custom development work required to deliver targeted demonstrations of product capabilities to fit applicable use-cases.
  • You will work alongside Professional Services teams to deliver successful Proof-Of-Concept / Proof-Of-Value projects, as well as help ensure successful outcomes for onboarded clients.
  • You will represent CWAN at trade shows, conferences, etc.
  • This role presents a unique opportunity to be part of the SaaS revolution that we are driving in the EMEA market and to play a visible role in the growth of the CWAN TRMS business.

Responsibilities:

  • Producing high-level architecture design/solution proposals as part of the sales cycle, to enable prospects to evaluate how we can fit into their organisations and systems landscape
  • Leading deeper technical workshops with prospects, to help showcase how our capabilities can help deliver flexible solutions for their needs.
  • Assisting and advising internal and external teams for POC/POV projects, to help clients evaluate fitness for purpose, including hands-on custom Python development as necessary
  • Expanding the internal inventory of demonstrable use-cases and configurations to empower the sales team
  • Building internal prototypes and proof-of-concept examples to demonstrate the power and flexibility of the product to meet client needs; provide analysis to internal product owners, relating to feedback or recommendations coming from the above
  • Assisting with technical responses to prospect inquiries such as through RFI/RFP and live Q&A and discovery calls.
  • Performing live demonstration of custom solutions to prospective clients

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience as a software developer or engineering manager responsible for building risk management systems
  • 2+ years’ experience developing in Python
  • Familiarity with the pre/post-trade risk-management needs of various personas within financial markets (traders, risk managers / CRO, portfolio managers, institutional sales, etc).
  • Familiarity and experience with risk management for portfolios of Commodities futures, derivatives (including options), and physical transactions; familiarity and experience with energy products such as Oil, Power, Natural Gas and Renewable Energy Certificates
  • Knowledge and understanding of the typical technology infrastructure, functional dependencies and business requirements of major institutions
  • The ability to bring appropriate knowledge and creativity to clients’ challenges and specify concrete proposals to meet their goals
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to articulate technical details to peers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Must be based in London and willing to visit prospect offices as required, including international travel.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a sales engineering / solutions consulting role
  • Prior hands-on familiarity with SecDb at Goldman Sachs, Athena at JP Morgan or Quartz at Bank of America Merrill Lynch
  • Familiarity with AWS, and other modern public cloud platforms
  • Experience with other major commodities such as metals and agricultural products
  • Experience with multiple other major asset classes (such as rates, FX, credit, equities), and desire to increase cross-asset knowledge and experience
  • Experience and familiarity with the different needs across types of financial institutions (buy-side / fund managers, sell-side / investment banks (including liquidity providers / market makers, etc), asset managers and asset owners) as well as physical commodities trading houses / energy utilities.
