Job Description

Legal Team is looking for an experienced attorney to join its litigation team. In this role, you will work closely with fellow litigation team members and internal stakeholders to coordinate and manage all aspects of litigation through trial. This position will manage a case load, driving alignment on case strategy, budget, and staffing while also advising internal stakeholders on trends in litigation, and changes in relevant statutes and regulations.
Must have:
  • Lead functional projects and programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
  • Provide specialized legal advice and support, particularly in high-demand areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify issues and recommend best practices, leveraging industry knowledge and legal expertise to guide decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, implementing robust compliance programs and conducting regular audits.
  • Manage legal risks and safeguard legal interests, developing strategies to address emerging legal challenges.
  • Represent in litigation and other legal proceedings, collaborating with external counsel and managing case strategies.

  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with, and strong interest in, mobile payments, emerging payment technology and the payments industry.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead functional projects and programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
  • Provide specialized legal advice and support, particularly in high-demand areas such as data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify issues and recommend best practices, leveraging industry knowledge and legal expertise to guide decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, implementing robust compliance programs and conducting regular audits.
  • Manage legal risks and safeguard legal interests, developing strategies to address emerging legal challenges.
  • Represent in litigation and other legal proceedings, collaborating with external counsel and managing case strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Juris doctorate or equivalent degree

Preferred Qualification:

  • 8 years of relevant work experience and atleast 3 as an attorney.
  • This is a midlevel to experienced attorney role requiring a demonstrated proficiency and experience in all aspects of litigation management.
  • Juris doctorate degree with an active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Litigation experience at a law firm or in house legal department handling commercial and consumer litigation especially state and/or federal claims applicable to the financial services industry.
  • The qualified candidate must possess the ability to quickly assess the legal exposure and provide concise legal advice to internal stakeholders including being responsible for reporting to senior leadership.
  • This is a fast-paced position that is suited to a self-starter who has the experience to quickly take ownership of a caseload of complex litigation matters.
  • Ability to effectively influence, lead, collaborate with and encourage others at all levels with an inclusive and collaborative team culture.
  • Good project manager who can bring various constituencies and stakeholders together to complete projects timely and efficiently.
  • Experience vetting and hiring outside counsel and expert witnesses.
  • Excellent research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset.
  • Team player who is comfortable with a dynamic and changing environment that emphasizes collaboration.
  • Skilled oral and written communicator.
  • Familiarity with, and strong interest in, mobile payments, emerging payment technology and the payments industry.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to keep and maintain clear, accurate, and concise records.
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Some travel is required, often out of state.

Travel Percent: 25

The US national annual pay range for this role is $123,500 to $212,850
