About the Opportunity
The Legal Response Manager (Global) will report to the Legal Reponse Lead (Global) to oversee and manage the Legal Response team, an expanding team with 40+ headcounts in multiple locations. Experience in a managerial/ legal operations function (process management/ optimisation, strategic planning and team training) is highly desirable. The Legal Response team is responsible for interactions with government agencies and other internal and external stakeholders under the supervision and guidance of the Legal team, and provides round-the-clock coverage. The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to and collaborate with global leadership across diverse cultural backgrounds.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Under the supervision of the Legal Response Lead (Global) and the Head of APAC Legal, supervise a team of legal assistants/ specialists, and provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure the team's success.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Legal Response team, including managing workflow, process uplifts, monitoring performance, and periodically updating management on significant matters and metrics.
- Manage legal operations to support the Legal team and other internal functions, including litigation, investigations, and other matters, to ensure they are handled effectively and efficiently.
- Help develop and implement strategies to achieve the Legal team's goals and objectives.
- Monitor and report on key performance metrics, including team productivity and effectiveness, to ensure that the department is meeting its goals.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Risk, Compliance and Customer Support, to identify and mitigate potential legal risks.
- Oversee the maintenance of legal records and databases to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and assist with presenting reports on legal operations to global senior management.
What We Look For In You

- Experience in process improvement and team management.
- Experience in reporting metrics and strategic plans (including use of PowerPoint and other tools) to senior leadership.
- Exemplary integrity, ethics, independence and resilience.
- Degree holder in Legal (LLB/J.D.) or equivalent from an accredited law school preferred, or have meaningful experience in Operations, Compliance or Risk roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including experience managing a team.
- Knowledge of litigation, investigations, and compliance matters preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of legal technology and tools, including case management systems and e-discovery tools.
- Strong analytical (including data / KPI analytical skills) and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in general fintech or TMT regulatory areas (including data privacy, cyber security, intellectual property) an advantage.
- Ideally a Malaysian citizen, a permanent resident in Malaysia or a foreign person with work permit as long as he or she ordinarily resides in Malaysia.
- Experience working in a startup environment is a definite advantage.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is strongly preferred to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders/ clients/ partners in multiple regions.
