Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Logistics Technician (Submarines) in Derby. This role involves operating Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE), managing material movements, ensuring materials are receipted, stored, picked, processed, and dispatched according to procedures. You will also conduct physical inspections during goods receipt and contribute to continuous improvement of logistics processes, ensuring compliance with HSE and quality standards.
Must have:
  • Operating Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • Managing material movements
  • Ensuring materials are receipted, stored, picked, processed and despatched in accordance with all local governing procedures
  • Conducting physical inspections as part of the goods receipt process
  • Ensuring full compliance to all appropriate HSE, Quality standards Inspection procedures
  • Complying with the company health, safety and environmental policy
  • Ensuring material is suitably packaged in line with quality and regulatory requirements
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
  • Retaining and handing over paperwork (GF/GR/PoD)
  • Performing physical counts to support the Physical perpetual inventory
  • Operating physical elements of the logistics processes including, but not exclusively, lifting, MHE etc.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our Submarines business as a Logistics Technician based in Derby. In this role, you will be responsible for operating Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) and managing material movements. You will ensure that all materials are receipted, stored, picked, processed, and dispatched in line with local governing procedures, while also conducting physical inspections as part of the goods receipt process.

What you will be doing:

With this exciting opportunity you will get a chance to be involved with the following:

  • Ensuring that all materials are receipted, put away, picked, processed and despatched in accordance with all local governing procedures. Whilst ensuring goods receipt physical inspections are completed and processed using appropriate inspection methods in line with company procedure.
  • Ensure full compliance to all appropriate HSE, Quality standards Inspection procedures. Comply with the company health, safety and environmental policy and help to embed a culture of open and honest reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Physical Logistics processes to reduce costs and increase service levels.
  • To ensure material is suitable packaged in line with quality and regulatory requirements to load and unload delivery vehicles, and where required, direct to the appropriate loading bay.
  • Ensuring paperwork (for example but not limited to, GF/GR/PoD) is retained and handed over to the relevant Logistics Operative for retention.
  • Perform physical counts to support the Physical perpetual inventory.
  • Operate physical elements of the logistics processes including, but not exclusively, lifting, MHE etc.

  • Experience of physical logistics operations is highly desirable.
  • Awareness of key regulatory requirements in the related subject.
  • Stock compliance and adherence.
  • MHE/lifting and slinging is desirable.
  • Forklift truck license is highly desirable, however training with be provided where required.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
