Job Description

As a Software Engineer Intern in the Player & Quality Insights team, you will focus on R&D projects, developing tools and features using computer vision and machine learning to streamline video game validation. This role offers hands-on AI experience, contributing to EA's quality standards. Responsibilities include assisting in AI solution development, data processing, prototyping, and integrating AI-powered tools, all within a Scrum framework.
Must Have:
  • Assist in research and development of AI solutions for automation scripts.
  • Collect, process, and analyze data to train and validate AI models.
  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts, designing processes and flowcharts.
  • Assist in integrating AI-powered tools for quality verification.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of developed solutions.
  • Create detailed documentation of research, development, and integration.
  • Independently develop a complete feature and share knowledge.
  • Gain hands-on experience working within the Scrum framework.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Video Game Development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or C#/.NET.
  • Experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Experience in model training using large datasets.
  • Solid understanding of AI and computer vision principles, including machine learning, large language models (LLM), and image processing.
  • Proven ability to prototype and iterate using open-source language model APIs.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.

The multi-disciplined Player & Quality Insights team focuses on understanding player behavior and designing player feedback events across our entire portfolio of games, to help game teams develop the games and experiences our players want to play. We are a player-inspired team where every major decision starts with who we make games for.

Main purpose of the role

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be an integral part of the PQI Engineering team, primarily focusing on research and development (R&D) projects. You will work on developing tools and features using computer vision and machine learning techniques to streamline the validation processes for video games. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with AI technology and contribute to the high standards of quality across EA products. Depending on your performance and the availability of positions, there may be opportunities for a full-time role upon successful completion of the internship.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research and development of AI solutions to generate automation scripts to support game validation processes.
  • Work on collecting, processing and analyzing data to train and validate AI models.
  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concepts, designing processes and creating system fl owcharts to illustrate how the solutions function.
  • Assist PQI Engineering in helping EA teams integrate AI-powered tools for quality verifi cation.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of developed solutions to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Create detailed documentation of research fi ndings, development processes, and integration procedures.
  • Independently develop a complete feature, exploring various approaches to identify the most suitable solutions. Share knowledge with team members to ensure expertise is retained within the PQI Engineering group.
  • Gain hands-on experience working within the Scrum framework, delivering incremental updates within a two-week sprint timeframe.

Your Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Video Game Development.
  • Profi ciency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or C#/.NET.
  • Experience with AI frameworks such PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Experience in model training using large datasets.
  • Solid understanding of AI and computer vision principles, including machine learning, large language models (LLM), and image processing.
  • Proven ability to prototype and iterate using open-source language model APIs.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Effective communication, and the ability to receive constructive feedback and turn it into learning opportunities.
