Russell Investments is seeking an Application Development Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of web and service-based software systems using ASP.NET and React. This role involves hands-on development, creating technical solutions for new and existing applications, and collaborating with business users and IT teams in an agile environment. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, design, development, unit testing, code review, and deployment, while adhering to industry best practices and Russell IT standards to improve code quality, performance, and delivery. The manager will also be responsible for sales technology strategy, stakeholder collaboration, system design, data management, analytics, operations optimization, team leadership, and ensuring data security and compliance.
Must have:
  • 15+ years in technology management, focus on sales ops systems
  • Strong expertise in ASP.NET, .NET Core, C#
  • Proficiency in .NET, C#, MVC, Web API, Angular/Reactjs
  • Expertise in SQL Server, database design

Job Description:

The Sales and Marketing Technology Team is looking for an exceptional Application Development Manager to manage and lead the design, development and delivery of web and service-based software systems built on an ASP.NET with Reacts. Note that this role involves heavy, hands-on development, and is responsible for developing technical solutions for new and existing applications working with internal business users and IT team members. This person succeeds in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and agile software development environment. They will work collaboratively and independently throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering & analysis, design, development, unit testing, code review, and deployment. They will provide industry best-practice guidance and incorporate Russell IT standards, tooling, and practices while working to improve our code quality, performance, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Sales Technology Strategy: Develop and execute a robust technology strategy for sales operations, aligning with business goals and leveraging the .NET ecosystem.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with sales, marketing, and business operations teams to understand requirements and ensure solutions address operational challenges.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in sales operations to drive innovation.

2. System Design and Development

  • Solution Architecture: Design scalable, secure, and efficient systems for sales operations, utilizing .NET frameworks (ASP.NET, .NET Core) and related technologies.

  • Application Development: Oversee the development of custom applications to support sales workflows, reporting, and process automation.

3. Data Management and Analytics

  • Data Strategy: Implement robust data management practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security within sales systems.

  • Reporting and Insights: Design advanced dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights into sales performance and operations.

  • Analytics Enablement: Support predictive analytics and data-driven decision-making using integrated tools and platforms.

4. Operations and Process Optimization

  • Automation: Develop and implement automated workflows to enhance sales efficiency and reduce manual efforts.

  • System Optimization: Conduct regular system audits and enhancements to ensure optimal performance and usability.

  • Scalability: Plan and execute scalable solutions that accommodate business growth and evolving sales strategies.

5. Team Leadership

  • Team Management: Lead a team of developers, analysts, and engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, ensuring professional development and high-quality deliverables.

  • Collaboration: Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units, translating business requirements into technical solutions.

6. Security and Compliance

  • Data Security: Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and implement security best practices for sales systems.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to system operations and data integrity

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in technology management, with a focus on sales operations systems.

  • Strong expertise in the .NET technology stack, including ASP.NET, .NET Core, C#, and related frameworks.

Technical Skills:

  • Development: Proficiency in .NET, C#, MVC, and Web API development and Angular/Reactjs.

  • Integration: Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP, and middleware tools for system integration.

  • Database: Expertise in SQL Server, database design, and optimization.

Soft Skills:
