Position Summary...

Walmart Global Communications is looking for a new breed of Designer—part creative visionary, part technical innovator—who’s ready to dismantle the traditional playbook and reimagine how narrative-driven content experiences are built in the age of AI.

This role isn’t just about using design tools—it’s about inventing them, shaping smarter creative systems, and leading a radical shift toward faster, more adaptive, brand-building storytelling. As a hands-on design expert with a hacker's mindset, you’ll live at the intersection of craft, code, and creativity—developing generative design workflows, prototyping proprietary AI tools, and scaling content systems that raise the bar on both creativity and efficiency. You won’t just keep up with the future of design—you’ll define it.

If you think in pixels but prototype in Python, and if you're as obsessed with storytelling as you are with scalability, we want to meet you.

What you'll do...

Creative Technology & GenAI Proficiency

  • Deep hands-on experience with emerging AI tools for creative workflows—understands not only how to prompt, but how to extend, refine, and even build custom AI tools and plugins tailored to design use cases.
  • Experience collaborating with designers, engineers and data scientists to co-develop proprietary AI tools for ideation, creative concept exploration and asset generation.
  • Ability to evaluate AI-generated content critically and integrate it seamlessly into polished, brand-aligned outputs.
  • Support creative operations by helping define and optimize workflows that balance speed, scale, and craft.

Design Excellence & Systems Thinking

  • Strong command of visual design principles—layout, typography, composition, color theory—with a platform-first mindset across a broad ecosystem: digital, physical, experiential.
  • Proven ability to craft narrative-driven design solutions across omnichannel campaigns—web, event, in-store and social.
  • Develop and refine design systems, including templates and design elements libraries, within tools that enable more self-serve and faster content production that meets both brand and design fidelity standards at scale.
  • Stay on the leading edge of design trends, AI advancements, and digital storytelling techniques, sharing insights and inspiration back to the team.
  • Design brand-aligned assets for a broad portfolio of platforms—web, environmental, graphic, and event design—leveraging expertise and technology to elevate creative quality and cohesion at every touchpoint.

Strategic Mindset & Innovation Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to bridge design and technology, shaping the future of how creative teams work.
  • Clear communicator who can articulate the "why" behind the work—inspiring teammates, educating stakeholders and advocating for smart experimentation.
  • Passion for future-forward design practices, including co-creation with AI, generative workflows and experience innovation.
  • Obsessed with efficiency, quality, and innovation, always pushing for smarter, faster, more adaptive creative methods without sacrificing craft, quality and brand fidelity.

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years in creative roles across digital design, creative technology, or experience design within agency or in-house teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field; hybrid backgrounds strongly preferred.
  • A strong, thoughtfully curated portfolio that demonstrates your skills, creativity, and ability to execute impactful designs within print, digital or experiential mediums.
