Warner Bros. Games Boston is a Warner Bros. Games development studio focused on creating free-to-play games for mobile platforms. The studio is utilizing its extensive expertise in creating persistent online worlds that foster powerful social gaming communities to develop its hit mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest.
WB Games Boston is looking for a Engineering Manager to join the team! In this role, you will be leading an established team that is in the production stage of development for an unannounced upcoming title.
This position is based out of the WB Games Boston studio location.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Drive the efficient development and delivery of key game systems on time and at quality
Coordinate with key leaders to establish the priorities and roadmaps for a game title's engineering department across multiple sub-teams
Manage and mentor engineering leads, ensuring all leaders have the support they need and that their teams are healthy and effective
Collaborate with feature owners, engineers, and teammates across many disciplines to determine the best practices, processes, and standards that ensure a product that will delight players and support many years of live operation
Translate the high-level goals of the business into direction and actionable tasks for your reports
Identify risks/problem areas and innovate or iterate on processes, systems, standards, game designs, and technology
Build upon a culture of inclusivity, empathy, and learning, through coaching, career management, and mentorship
Ensure the technical designs of systems meet team standards
Qualifications & Experience...
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
10+ years of commendable software development experience using C#, Golang, or similar object-oriented languages, with a practical knowledge of common data structures, software design practices, multi-threading, and optimization techniques
3+ years of software development and/or management experience building asynchronous or synchronous multiplayer games, or equivalent technology
3+ years of managing personnel, with experience overseeing managers or 15+ engineer teams a big plus
Clear, concise, and transparent communication skills - both written and verbal
The ability to lead, encourage, understand, and support others
A growth mindset, an attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and take feedback
A passion for the gaming landscape, understanding what contributes to a game's success or failure, and what makes it fun
Experience initiating and driving large scale strategic initiatives
Nice to Have
In-depth knowledge of Unity3D, specifically for mobile game development
Experience developing for iOS and/or Android
Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure technologies
Experience playing and/or building 4X strategy mobile games
Familiarity with the Game of Thrones television series and/or series of books
Experience with managing relationships with external vendors
