Manager - Product Software Engineering - Java & Angular - Pune/Chennai

This position requires a passionate and technology driven candidate to be responsible to manage product delivery of Wolter’s Kluwer Passport enterprise legal management SaaS product. The candidate should be willing to challenge the status quo, drive innovation, and work hand in hand with cross functional teams. This role requires very strong technical skills in software development and a proven ability to deliver products to the market. Day-to-day activities will require working across multiple work streams, managing performance of team leads and individual developers, and ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery. This role assists with the planning and estimating of work, understands requirements of and desired functionality being built, and helps craft the technical solutions that will deliver the desired functionality.

This is a role will report directly to the Director of Product Software Engineering for Passport and is crucial to the continued growth of the product and business unit within Wolters Kluwer.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Foster DevOps culture to ensure that applications can be built, tested, deployed, and monitored in an efficient and automated manner.
• Manage a team of 5-10+ engineers and responsible for delivery of product on-time with superior quality.
• Maintain and lead awareness of industry best practices and relevant technologies.
• Monitor trends in software engineering and development tools to influence the solutions for Passport.
• Understand capabilities and functionality of the platform and products to design and develop new features, modifications, enhancements to current products and tools.
• Participate in Code reviews, setting and implementing coding standards, hands on troubleshooting whenever required across different teams.
• Partner with cross functional leads and other stakeholders to design and develop modifications and enhancements to Passport.
• Coordinate with Product Management in all areas of development including planning, estimation, risk escalation, mitigation, delivery, and support.
• Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching/mentoring to direct reports.
• Produce high quality software and participate in continuous improvement to achieve higher efficiency.
• Mentor technical managers, principal engineers, senior software engineers as well as associate software engineers through formal and informal channels.
• Ensure that all operational and employee related escalations are properly managed and resolved.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B.E. or B. Tech.), Computer Science or Engineering with equivalent credentials
• Master’s degree highly preferred

Experience and Skill set:

• Overall, 10 years of experience with a minimum of 7 years of development experience in Java front-end technologies such as React/Angular
• Minimum of 3 years of experience managing small to medium sized teams.
• Experience in Web development with client-side scripting languages
• Extensive experience using and managing GIT-based source control systems to drive continuous integration and delivery.
• 5+ years’ experience building Azure native applications.
• Extensive experience with agile development methodologies and processes required.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement.
• Strong strategic thinker: Ability to apply conceptual strategy, facilitate brainstorming, and direct day-to-day execution of projects through to completion with proven experience creating strategies that are executable through creative expression.
• Experience leading teams in researching new and emerging technologies to realize potential value, business fit, operations, and cost efficiencies of implementing such technologies is necessary.
• Ability to oversee multiple complex project deliveries in parallel.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
