Job Description

As Manufacturing Engineer – Purchasing - Supplier Designed Components, you will lead all aspects of the external supply chain manufacturing activities, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery for designated programs and components. You will work in a cross-functional team with a manufacturing emphasis to achieve procurement objectives. Responsibilities include providing manufacturing input to design engineering for produceability, representing manufacturing in sourcing strategy, supporting new supplier setup, conducting supplier readiness assessments, providing quality support, performing source inspections, and fostering continuous improvement.
Must have:
  • Lead external supply chain manufacturing activities.
  • Ensure quality, cost, and delivery for programs and components.
  • Provide manufacturing input to design engineering for produceability.
  • Represent manufacturing in component sourcing strategy.
  • Support new supplier setup with Procurement & Quality.
  • Conduct supplier manufacturing readiness and technical risk assessments.
  • Support suppliers on quality requirements (APQP, FAIR, PPAP, SABRe).
  • Perform supplier hardware delivery source inspections.
  • Foster continuous improvement in manufacturing.
  • Meet degree/experience requirements (e.g., Bachelor's with 2+ years relevant experience).
  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Achieve Certified Rolls-Royce source inspector status.
Good to have:
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma Black Belt.
  • Strong understanding of SABRe, FAIR, PPAP requirements.
  • Experience operating within a global manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with controls and hydromechanical component manufacturing and certification processes.
  • Experience in robust design methodologies.
  • Experience in design of manufacturing tooling, gaging, and fixtures.
  • Demonstrated experience working with suppliers for world-class manufacturing performance.

As Manufacturing Engineer – Purchasing - Supplier Designed Components, you will be responsible to lead all aspects of the external supply chain manufacturing activities with accountability to ensure quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met for the designated programs and components. What you will be doing:

  • Provide manufacturing input to design engineering to assure component designs are produceable & facilitate design for manufacturer supplier events
  • Represent manufacturing perspective regarding component sourcing strategy
  • Work with Procurement & Quality organization to stand up new suppliers
  • Develop & conduct supplier manufacturing readiness and technical risk assessments
  • Provide support to supplier with respect to quality requirements (APQP, FAIR, PPAP; Drawing Alteration Requests, SABRe)
  • Perform supplier hardware delivery source inspections
  • Create the environment for continuous improvement with the emphasis on sharing and searching for best practice

Basic Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Engineering, Technology or Business with 4+ years’ experience within Operations, Manufacturing, Quality or Purchasing, or
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Technology or Business with 2+ years’ experience within Operations, Manufacturing, Quality or Purchasing, or
  • Masters Degree or JD/PhD in Engineering, Technology or Business
  • In lieu of degree 6+ years of work experience in manufacturing, quality, or industrial engineering
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be able to achieve Certified Rolls-Royce source inspector status

Preferred Requirements:
