Apple is seeking an accomplished Manufacturing Process Engineer to lead development and ramp for a next-generation product. This highly visible role involves reviewing designs, setting manufacturing standards, partnering with cross-functional teams, and developing improved processes. The engineer will drive corrective actions, design experiments, ensure manufacturability, and present technical updates to management. International travel up to 30% is required to supplier sites.
Must have:
  • Review and provide feedback on design/design intent of components and assemblies.
  • Set standard manufacturing practices and independently determine impact to design and parameters to the final product.
  • Partner with internal and external cross functional teams to evaluate design and processes at concept phase and set expectations for manufacturing processes.
  • Develop new and/or improved processes for parts and assemblies through the application of theoretical and practical engineering.
  • Drive corrective actions cross-functionally with internal and external team members.
  • Drive design experiments to prove out manufacturing processes or design iterations.
  • Provide early and on going manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are mechanically manufacturable (Design for Manufacturability).
  • Design and develop technically complex processes to improve quality and efficiency (Process Engineering).
  • Present technical issues and updates to Apple management team and cross functional team on a frequent basis.
  • Provide creative solutions for engineering challenges or issues related to assembly process.
  • 3+ years experience in process development/bring up and qualification.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Program/project management experience.
  • Manufacturing or supplier management experience.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and Engineering Drawing Interpretation.
  • Design of Experiments, statistical process control methods and theory.
  • Good command of Excel and JMP.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong Team Player.
Good to have:
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Metrology design and Optical/Contact Measurement Equipment.
  • Mandarin or Korean language skills.

Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include:

  • BS (MS preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Program/project management experience.
  • Manufacturing or supplier management experience.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and Engineering Drawing Interpretation.
  • Design of Experiments, statistical process control methods and theory.
  • Good command of Excel and JMP.
  • Knowledge of Metrology design and Optical/Contact Measurement Equipment is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Mandarin or Korean language skills are a plus but not required.
  • Strong Team Player.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $128,400 and $193,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
