The Opportunity:

The Products Safety & Regulatory Compliance team is looking for a summer intern to join our Regulatory Compliance group based in our El Segundo office to work with and support our chemical compliance experts. 

 The internship runs 10-12 weeks and consists of three elements:

  • Individual: Day-to-day and special project responsibilities 
  • Group: Work in a cross-functional intern group on a project that will be presented to senior management at the end of the internship.
  • Networking: Various information sessions, field trips, meet & eat lunches with executives, and networking events.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Research international chemical requirements applicable to children’s products
  • Incorporate pertinent requirements into Mattel ‘s internal procedures
  • Ensure requirements are timely, clear, and effectively communicated to stakeholders
  • Standardize chemical testing methodology and incorporate into Mattel ‘s internal procedures.
  • Evaluate the chemical make-up of current and new materials (bill of materials/bill of substances) against chemical restrictions, reporting requirements, and other related regulations
  • Work within a multi-disciplined group to advance the chemical management framework to improve structure and consistency in our approach to chemical issues. 
  • Interface with global suppliers, retail customers, and regulatory agencies on chemical issues
