Job Description

Varonis is seeking an MDDR Manager to oversee 24x7 MDDR operations, ensuring the team monitors, triages, investigates, and escalates data security incidents. This role involves hiring, training, and managing MDDR Team Leads, developing their skills, ensuring adherence to policies and SLAs, and serving as a technical escalation point. The manager will continuously expand the team's capabilities to protect customer data.
Must have:
  • Lead and manage personnel in a team-oriented environment.
  • 5+ years in cybersecurity operations.
  • Cybersecurity degree/certifications with expertise in monitoring, detection, investigation, and incident response.
  • Oversee enterprise or customer security operations.
  • Knowledge of security technologies: firewall, IDS, EDR, AV, DLP, DSPM, PAM, IAM.
  • Creative problem-solving for complex issues.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and autonomous delivery of outcomes.
  • Technical and operational escalation for investigations and incidents.
  • Develop, document, and modify threat detection systems, playbooks, and operations.
  • Ensure team training and skill development.
  • Validate findings and coordinate investigations with customers and internal teams.
  • Document and communicate investigative findings, tracking in CRM.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Varonis MDDR service.
  • Oversee and execute MDDR programs, projects, and operational tasks.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback for team growth and development.

The Role: Data is the #1 target of attackers, and Varonis' Managed Data Detection and Response (MDDR) customers entrust our team with the security of their data. We are seeking a driven MDDR Manager to oversee MDDR operations, ensuring the team is working 24x7 to monitor, triage, investigate, and escalate incidents where data is at risk.

MDDR Managers are responsible for hiring, training, and managing MDDR Team Leads. This oversight includes developing the knowledge and skills needed to execute the MDDR mission, ensuring adherence to all operating policies and procedures, ensuring the high-quality delivery of the MDDR service, adhering to MDDR SLAs, serving as a point of technical and operational escalation for MDDR analysts and Team Leads, and working to continuously expand the capabilities of the MDDR team.

The Location: We are considering candidates who are able to work by hybrid model based out of Morrisville, NC.

The Requirements:

  • Proven success in leading and managing personnel within a team-oriented environment.
  • 5+ years of experience working in cybersecurity operations.
  • Degree and/or certification(s) in cybersecurity and proven ability to execute across cybersecurity operations disciplines, including monitoring, detection, investigation, and incident response.
  • Proven ability to oversee enterprise or customer security operations.
  • Knowledge of common security technologies and tools including network-based (firewall and IDS), host-based (EDR and AV), data-based (DLP and DSPM), and identity-based (PAM and IAM).
  • Proven ability to creatively problem-solve when handling complex issues.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills (direct reports, colleagues, and customers).
  • Attention to detail and the capability to deliver outcomes autonomously.

The Responsibilities:

  • Technical and operational escalation point for investigations, incidents, and other elements of the MDDR service.
  • Assist in the development, documentation, analysis, testing, and modification of Varonis’ threat detection systems, playbooks, runbooks, and MDDR team operations.
  • Ensure the team is trained and equipped with the required skills and knowledge to effectively execute the MDDR service.
  • Validate findings and coordinate investigative efforts with customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure all investigative findings are documented and communicated appropriately by the team, including tracking in CRM.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all aspects of Varonis MDDR service.
  • Oversee and execute programs, projects, operational tasks, and responsibilities related to the MDDR service.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and deliver regular feedback to drive team growth and development.
