Job Description

The Observability Engineer is responsible for the client's inContact's public and private monitoring tools. This position collaborates with business units to set and ensure the implementation and education of monitoring tools best practices. The Engineer will work with various monitoring tools located in private cloud environments, AWS, and other cloud providers. The Engineer will provide education to other teams on the use of different monitoring tools. They may help set the strategy and standards for monitoring tools, ensuring other engineers adhere to these methodologies. They will also perform routine maintenance, be an escalation point for problem-solving, administer observability tools, develop alerts, and communicate technical information.
Must have:
  • Experience with Agile, Jira, GitHub, monitoring, automation, and dashboarding
  • Programming/scripting experience with Go, Python, .Net (C#), or Node
  • Experience with applications using JSON and YAML
  • Experience with private and public cloud technologies
  • Experience with platform monitoring tools

Requirements and responsibilities

The Observability Engineer is responsible for the client's inContact's public and private monitoring tools. This position collaborates with business units within the company to set and ensure the implementation and education of monitoring tools best practices. The Observability Engineer will work with the client's inContact's various monitoring tools located in the inContact's private cloud environments, AWS and other cloud providers. The Observability Engineer will provide education to other teams on the use of different monitoring tools. The Observability Engineer may help set the strategy and standards for monitoring tools, and ensure other engineers follow and adhere to these methodologies within the business. 

This position may develop detailed implementation/project plans for monitoring tools installations including space, hardware, OS and cabling requirements. This position actively seeks to learn and evaluate emerging technologies, collaborating with other business units within the company to implement changes that will provide an advantage in observability, automation, optimization, alerts, quality monitoring, baselining and other benefits. ​

What you’ll do

  • Perform routine maintenance and grooming of monitoring tools infrastructure and collaborates with all aspects of the organization to resolve issues. 
  • Be an escalation point for help in deep analysis and problem solving when needed. 
  • Administer open-source, custom built and enterprise observability tools 
  • Develop real-time and near-real-time alerts, proactive alerts, baseline trending, external baseline monitor and alerting. 
  • Communicate detailed technical information in both written and verbal form across a wide range of audiences, including business stakeholders, users, developers, project management, and other engineers. 
  • Participate in the evaluation and/or selection of solutions or products, including requirements definition, vendor and product evaluations. 
  • Act as a local expert for areas of domain expertise. 
  • Identify evolutionary improvements to the observability and monitoring solutions. 
  • Create automation and tooling to reduce toil and manual intervention. 

What you’ll bring

  • Experience with Agile, Jira, GitHub, monitoring, automation, dashboarding;
