Job Summary

Based in Montreal, reporting to Ubisoft's International Headquarters, you will join the Ubisoft Music team, which brings together music supervision, music licensing, publishing, and artistic partnership activities. You will specifically join the Licensing division, whose mission is to integrate the best songs and music tracks into Ubisoft experiences. You will coordinate the acquisition of music licenses and ensure their smooth execution across a variety of projects to meet the musical needs of Ubisoft teams.

Must Have

  • Collaborate closely with music licensing specialists to identify needs and budgets, and transmit music research to partners.
  • Identify rights holders (publishers and record labels) of musical works, draft proposals, and follow up on requests until agreements are received.
  • Monitor received agreements and license conditions, and collect license-related elements (audio files, lyrics, credits).
  • Develop trusted relationships with internal (legal, marketing, production) and external (record labels, publishers) partners.
  • Ensure rigorous archiving of licenses in internal tracking tools and coordinate with the administrative coordinator for payment processing and contract finalization.
  • First experience in a similar role within the music industry (record label, music publisher, rights management), video game industry, or similar (television, cinema).
  • Good knowledge and understanding of copyrights related to music publishing and recording.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Autonomy, rigor, and initiative.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Solution-oriented approach with strong resilience.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Job Description

Based in Montreal, reporting to Ubisoft's International Headquarters, you will join the Ubisoft Music team, which, from Montreal, Paris & Shanghai, brings together music supervision, music licensing, publishing, and artistic partnership activities within the company. You will specifically join the Licensing division, whose mission is to integrate the best songs and music tracks into the heart of Ubisoft experiences!

Alongside the Music Licensing Specialists already in place, you will be responsible for coordinating the acquisition of licenses for musical works and ensuring their smooth execution across a wide variety of projects, to meet the musical needs of Ubisoft teams.

In this capacity, your main missions are as follows:

  • Collaborate closely with music licensing specialists to identify their needs and budgets, and transmit music research to partners.
  • Identify rights holders (publishers and record labels) of musical works, draft proposals, and follow up on requests, from sending the proposal to receiving agreements.
  • Monitor received agreements and license conditions, and collect license-related elements (audio files, lyrics, credits).
  • Develop trusted relationships with internal (legal, marketing, production) and external (record labels, publishers) partners, and propose new partners as needed.
  • Ensure rigorous archiving of licenses in internal tracking tools, and coordinate with the administrative coordinator to ensure payment process follow-up and contract finalization.

Qualifications

To succeed in this position, you must have initial experience in a similar role in the music industry (record label, music publisher, rights management), the video game industry, or a similar industry (television, cinema, etc.), preferably in an international environment. You will bring the following experience:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of copyrights related to music publishing and recording.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Autonomy, rigor, and initiative, with an ability to propose relevant ideas within the team.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, structure processes, and mobilize contributions from others.
  • Solution-oriented approach, with strong resilience to unforeseen events and challenges.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, essential for international exchanges.
  • Strong interest in the world of video games and production, considered an asset.
