Job Summary
As Audio Programming Director for Unreal Engine, you will lead the evolution of audio technology, directing programming pillars and shaping technology, teams, and strategy for audio creation across the ecosystem. This involves leading and managing audio programming teams for Unreal Engine and Epic first-party games, mentoring team leads, coordinating with audio engine leadership, partnering with other programming directors, and defining long-term technical direction for audio workflows, tools, and runtime systems to support creators at all experience levels.
Must Have
- Experience in game audio, real-time audio systems, or related software development
- Strong C++ skills and strong programming fundamentals, with experience in designing large-scale systems
- Demonstrated success driving the development of tools or pipeline development that support creative workflows at scale
- Proven experience leading and developing programming teams or technical leaders
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing long-term strategy with near-term execution

What You'll Do
Unreal Engine’s audio technology continues to push the boundaries of what real-time audio can achieve, from advanced procedural rendering to flexible, next-generation production pipelines. As we move toward the future of UE and UEFN user-generated content workflows, you will help lead this evolution by directing the audio programming pillar and shaping the technology, teams, and strategy that power audio creation across the ecosystem.
In this role, you will
- Lead and manage audio programming teams supporting Unreal Engine and Epic first-party games.
- Mentor audio programming team leads and foster a culture of technical excellence, sustainable growth, and knowledge sharing
- Coordinate with audio engine leadership, production, and audio technical directors to align priorities and balance team capacity.
- Partner with other programming directors to ensure audio technology is integrated, scalable, and aligned with broader engine and company goals
- Help define long-term technical direction for audio workflows, tools, and runtime systems supporting creators at all experience levels
What we're looking for

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

$236,221—$346,457 CAD
