As we evolve towards future user-generated content creation processes in UE and UEFN, you will play a central role in this transformation by leading the audio programming pillar and guiding the technology, teams, and strategy supporting audio creation across the entire ecosystem.

Must Have

• Lead and mentor audio programming teams for Unreal Engine and Epic's internal games.
• Mentor team leads, foster technical excellence, growth, and knowledge sharing.
• Align priorities and balance team capacity with audio engine leads and production.
• Collaborate with other directors for integrated, scalable audio technology.
• Define long-term technical direction for audio processes, tools, and runtime systems.
• Experience in video game audio, real-time audio systems, or related software development.
• Excellent C++ skills and strong programming fundamentals for large-scale systems.
• Demonstrated success in developing tools for large-scale creative workflows.
• Proven experience leading and developing programming teams or technical leaders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy with short-term execution in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

Unreal Engine's audio technology continues to push the boundaries of real-time audio rendering — from advanced procedural synthesis to flexible, next-generation production pipelines. As we evolve towards future user-generated content creation processes in UE and UEFN, you will play a central role in this transformation by leading the audio programming pillar and guiding the technology, teams, and strategy that support audio creation across the entire ecosystem.

What you'll be responsible for

• Lead and mentor audio programming teams supporting Unreal Engine and Epic's internal games
• Mentor audio programming team leads and foster a culture of technical excellence, sustainable growth, and knowledge sharing
• Work closely with audio engine leads, production, and audio technical directors to align priorities and balance team capacity
• Collaborate with other programming directors to ensure audio technology is integrated, scalable, and aligned with overall engine and company goals
• Contribute to defining the long-term technical direction for audio processes, tools, and runtime systems to support creators, regardless of their experience level

What we're looking for

• Experience in video game audio, real-time audio systems, or related software development
• Excellent C++ skills and strong programming fundamentals, with experience in large-scale system design
• Demonstrated success in developing tools or production processes supporting large-scale creative workflows
• Proven experience in leading and developing programming teams or technical leaders
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to thrive effectively in a fast-paced environment while balancing long-term strategy with short-term execution
