Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer-IV for a project-driven team responsible for the design and engineering of global data centers and their connecting MPLS networks. The role involves planning, design, configuration, integration, and installation of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). You will provide technical leadership and support, gather network requirements from internal customers and vendors, and contribute to continuous improvement in areas like flawless execution, available capacity, efficiency, and a solid foundation. Responsibilities include performing design feasibility studies, vendor selection, maintenance planning, developing standard operating procedures, training internal teams on new technologies, and automating engineering tasks.
Must Have
- Expert experience with MPLS, BGP, LDP, QoS, IPv6, OSPF, vPC, STP, DWDM, EVPN, L2VPN, MPLS VPN, L3VPN, FHRP, VLAN, CDP, port-channels, IS-IS, MPLS Inter-AS, VXLAN, DNS, ACL, RADb, Flowspec, RTBH, GitHub, API's, NFV, Hypervisors, virtual switching.
- Multi-vendor experience with Cisco IOS, ASR 1k, ASR NCS, Nexus, Arista EOS, Junos.
- CCNA certification required, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP preferred, CCIE (R&S, SP or DC) highly preferred (or equivalent experience), Python PCEP.
- Minimum 7-10 years recent experience in network design and build-out of LAN/WANs or large-scale network retrofits.
- Experience in service provider, datacenter/hosting, or large-scale enterprise networks.
- Excellent writing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Customer service-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, 24x7x365 coverage, including holidays and weekends.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
Good to Have
- Experience designing, coding, implementing, and supporting automation solutions.
- Experience and familiarity with Python and/or Ruby.
- Experience with Linux system administration.
- Experience and familiarity with Git, Ansible, Jenkins, Splunk.
- Contributor to open source network management software projects.
- Experience with various open source operating systems.
- Experience with lab network modeling.
- Experience with troubleshooting and resolution of network issues.
- University or College degree preferred in Computer Science or Network Engineering.
Job Description
- DESIGN:
- Perform design requirements feasibility studies
- Perform vendor recommendation / selection and coordination for hardware testing and installations
- Examine theoretical and implemented designs for deficiencies and facilitate corrections
- BUILD:
- Prepare maintenance plan documentation & change management
- Examine maintenance plans for accuracy
- Script maintenance implementations
- Work in either a lead role or assisting role during maintenance implementations
- IMPROVEMENTS:
- Develop Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP’s) & Method of Procedure’s (MOP’s)
- Develop network standardization practices
- Document informational content for specialized network designs to be used for training needs
- Present and/or Train on new network typologies, hardware and technologies to internal teams
- Lead Root Cause Analysis sessions to achieve better networking practices
- Determine baseline requirements for our network needs
- Provide code analysis on existing software, IOS testing and software recommendations
- Create network lab mockups for error testing
- Automate repetitive Engineering tasks
- ADDITIONAL:
- Act as 4th level escalations POC for design or other related problems
- Conduct provider testing / deployment of new services
- Monitor capacity and plan for bandwidth additions
- Establish project priority based on business needs

- Industry recognized certifications: CCNA required, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP preferred, CCIE (R&S, SP or DC) highly preferred (or equivalent experience), Python PCEP
- Minimum 7-10 years recent experience with network design and build-out of LAN/WAN’s and/or large-scale network retrofits and remediation’s
- Experience working in service provider, datacenter/hosting environment or large-scale enterprise networks.
- Experience researching, evaluating and recommending hardware and/or software solutions supporting large scale deployments and/or remediation’s against the LAN/WAN
- Experience working with 3rd party networking vendors with an understanding of the service/hardware/software portfolios they provide
- Able to identify areas of process improvement and provide input and solution options to streamline work
- Excellent writing, documentation and communication skills possessing the ability to communicate well with technical and non-technical peers.

- Experience with network service monitoring systems (Arbor, Zenoss, Syslog, SolarWinds, Splunk, Kibana, WhatsUpGold, etc…)
- High School diploma or equivalent required; University or College degree preferred in the Computer Science or Network Engineering fields.
- History designing, coding, implementing, and supporting Infrastructure/Operations-side automation solutions in a corporate environment.
- Experience and familiarity with Python and/or Ruby
