Job Description

The Network Engineering Engineer is responsible for the deployment, configuration, and testing of synchronization networks and master clocks. They require expertise in TP4100 and TimePictra network management systems. The role involves end-to-end solution-level expertise in network synchronization, including technology development support and L3/engineering support for timing sources. Platform management/engineering skills include developing lifecycle plans, validating technology solutions, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and driving efficiency through process improvements. The role also seeks basic scripting skills and knowledge of project management methodologies.
Must have:
  • Experience in deployment and configuration of synchronization networks and master clocks
  • Experience with TP4100 and TimePictra network management systems
  • End to end Solution level expertise on Network Synchronisation
  • Platform Management/Engineering skills
  • Develop lifecycle plans and enhancements for infrastructure platforms
Good to have:
  • Basic scripting skills to support analysis tool development
  • Awareness of Telstra architecture and technology implementation
  • Knowledge of Technology & Product Lifecycle and business processes
  • Working knowledge of project management/Agile methodologies

Job Summary

Essential:
• Experience in deployment, network configuration and testing for Synchronization networks and Master Clocks.

• Experience with TP4100 and Network Management System TimePictra (or similar devices and applications from alternative vendors e.g. Adtran/Oscilloquartz)

• End to end Solution level expertise on Network Synchronisation
o Technology development support, including test environment setup, Test Object List (TOL) development and implementation for timing / synchronization.
o Configuration and L3/Engineering level support for timing sources.

• Platform Management/Engineering skills including:
o Develop lifecycle plans and enhancements for the infrastructure platforms to meet performance and operational requirements.
o Validate technology solutions and designs through testing within the Transport domain as well as with other Telstra technology domains.
o Identify and drive product unit cost reduction opportunities through simplification, rationalisation, and smart application of recent technology.
o Drive efficiency in development and operation of technologies through process improvements and automation opportunities.

Desirable:
• Basic scripting skills to support analysis tool development (e.g. Python, QLIK, GRAFANA, etc)
• Awareness of Telstra architecture and technology implementation process
• A working knowledge of Technology & Product Lifecycle from introduction to augmentation to exit stages and the associated business processes
• A working knowledge of project management/Agile methodologies
