We’re seeking a Platform Engineer to join our team and work on a dynamic suite of observability & automation platforms that helps driving product observability, operation efficiency and proactive actions. We are looking for highly skilled Observability platforms engineer with 5+ years of strong hands-on experience in managing and developing ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), NewRelic & similar solutions like Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics etc. The ideal candidate should possess solid expertise in AWS, Unix/Linux administration, and end-to-end observability pipeline/data ingestion management & dashboards creation. Individual will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining log analytics and monitoring solutions for GBT’s infrastructure, platforms and applications. This is someone who can adapt to recent technologies, thrive in a dynamic environment, and deliver positive outcomes for the company and our clients. What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain observability platforms for scalable log aggregation and visualization.
- Administer clusters, manage telemetry data of MELT [Metrics, Events, Logs and Traces] ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance tuning across ELK & NewRelic platforms.
- Build and optimize data ingestion pipelines with custom filters and Open Telemetry patterns.
- Develop and maintain critical dashboards tailored to business and operational needs.
- Perform Unix/Linux system administration tasks as needed for platform support.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues across the observability stack and integrations.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to deliver reliable observability solutions.
- Maintain documentation and operational run books for various observability workflows.
- Participate in the evolution and maintenance of existing systems.
- Propose new functional and/or technical product improvements.
- Experiment with new and emerging technologies.
- Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
- Collaborate and work alongside fellow engineers, designers, and other partners to develop and maintain applications.
- Work in a SCRUM team.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in leading, designing, building, and maintaining enterprise observability platforms that monitor, analyze, and report on the health and performance of software applications and infrastructure.
- Experience in Site Reliability Engineering observability metrics and KPIs.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or STEM.
- Strong hands-on expertise with observability stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, NewRelic etc).
- Deep knowledge of indexing, querying, sharding, replication, and cluster management.
- Experience with various filters, input/output plugins, and custom parsing using grok or similar technique to transform raw log messages into organized and searchable formats.
- Strong knowledge of visualization, alerts and dashboards creation.
- Automation mindset and implemented Observability-as-Code (OaC).
- Solid experience in Unix/Linux administration and shell scripting, python to build background jobs & container management.
- Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for working across teams.
- Experience with different beats (Filebeat, Metricbeat etc) and using APM agents.
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman).
- Exposure to security logging, threat detection, and integrating with various SIEM tools.
- Knowledge of performance tuning for large-scale clusters.
- Deep understanding of ILM policies, Synthetic monitoring, custom integrations & APIs.
- Hands on experience with various query languages such as NRQL, ES|QL, KQL.
- 2+ years of experience working with AWS or any other cloud platform.
Bonus if you have
- Experience in AWS.
- Knowledge of monitoring & alerting across application, infrastructure, network.
- Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, Clodformation etc. for infrastructure as code & configurations as code.
- DevOps knowledge.
