Job Description

As a Packaging Engineer, you will develop protective, efficient, and cost-effective packaging solutions for bicycles, components, and accessories. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with product development, operations, supply chain, and quality teams to meet performance, cost, and environmental goals. You will create distribution packaging systems, assist with retail packaging die-lines, and utilize in-house equipment for rapid prototyping and testing. The position also includes working with foreign and domestic vendors to bring new packaging systems to market.
Must have:
  • Lead design, testing, and implementation of packaging solutions.
  • Collaborate with global suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Document new packaging systems with technical drawings and BOMs.
  • Conduct packaging validation and transit testing.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously for on-time delivery.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives with eco-friendly materials.
  • Analyze packaging costs for optimization and savings.
  • Support continuous improvement across packaging lifecycle.

Job Description

As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of protective, efficient, and cost-effective packaging solutions for bicycles, components, and accessories. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with product development, operations, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure our packaging meets performance, cost, and environmental goals. In this role you will create packaging systems for the distribution of products, as well as assist Packaging Designers with retail packaging die-lines. With our in-house equipment, you can rapidly prototype and test new designs. Working with vendors both foreign and domestic, you will bring new packaging systems to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, testing, and implementation of packaging solutions for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with global suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure packaging feasibility and on-time implementation.
  • Document new packaging systems by drafting technical drawings, assembly guides, and bill of materials.
  • Conduct packaging validation and transit testing to ensure product protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with business goals.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives by identifying and implementing eco-friendly materials and packing methods.
  • Analyze packaging costs and identify opportunities for optimization and savings.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the packaging lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in packaging design and development, preferably in consumer goods or sporting goods.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and sustainability practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, OnShape) and packaging testing standards (ISTA, ASTM).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
