Job Description

Sirtex Medical is a global leader in healthcare, dedicated to improving patient outcomes through minimally invasive cancer and embolization therapies. The company's flagship product, SIR-Spheres® Y-90 resin microspheres, is a targeted radiation therapy for liver cancer, with over 150K doses delivered worldwide. This Plant Manager position, based in Wilmington, MA, is crucial for leading the site's manufacturing strategy for SIR-Spheres and Lava value streams. The role involves managing production schedules, driving continuous improvement, overseeing budget, ensuring quality and compliance, and leading engineering, quality, and HSE functions to maintain a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
Must have:
  • Develop and lead the execution of the site manufacturing strategy for both the SIR-Spheres and Lava value streams.
  • Lead, develop and mentor manufacturing team members.
  • Manage production schedules, ensuring resource availability and capacity to meet demand.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement efforts, identifying opportunities to reduce cost, improve quality and safety.
  • Full responsibility for developing and managing to site budget.
  • Ensure resource and equipment capacity for efficient and reliable manufacturing.
  • Set site target KPIs managing OEE, Labor Efficiency, Scrap, Equipment Utilization.
  • Ensure product is built to specification and in compliance with all Quality System requirements.
  • Manage the site engineering team to ensure equipment and processes are robust and meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Support the Quality Department to ensure compliance with all areas of the Sirtex QMS.
  • Work with HSE/Facilities Department to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage all shipping, receiving and warehousing activities, ensuring timely material receipt and accurate inventory.

Job Description

This position is required to report to the Wilmington, MA location weekly

  • Develop and lead the execution of the site manufacturing strategy for both the SIR-Spheres and Lava value streams. Align site goals with Senior Leadership and Corporate objectives.
  • Team Performance Management: lead, develop and mentor manufacturing team members.
  • Manage production schedules, ensuring resource availability and capacity to meet demand, working closely with the Supply Chain team, using optimal schedules to minimize overall costs.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement efforts, identifying process, equipment, product, and other opportunities, that reduce cost, improve quality and safety at the site.
  • Full responsibility for developing and managing to site budget.
  • Ensure resource and equipment capacity to ensure efficient and reliable manufacturing.
  • Set site target KPI’s managing OEE, Labor Efficiency, Scrap, Equipment Utilization, etc.
  • Ensure product is built to specification and in compliance with all Quality System requirements.
  • Manage the site engineering team to ensure equipment and processes are robust and meet all manufacturing requirements. Manage PM strategy and ensure that execution is completed on time.
  • Support the Quality Department, working with on site Quality team members to ensure that compliance with all areas of the Sirtex QMS are being followed. Identify opportunities for improvement and work to implement them directly in the QMS.
  • Work in conjunction with HSE/Facilities Department to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and that the facilities is maintained, and compliant with regulatory requirements for both the handling of radioactive materials and medical device manufacturing.
  • Manage all shipping, receiving and warehousing activities. Ensure timely material receipt, inventory accuracy is maintained, and products are shipped on time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline such as Chemistry or Biomedical field required
  • 5+ Years experience working in medical device or pharmaceutical industry required
  • Prior experience working with radio isotopes preferred
  • 3+ years of site management experience, with 10+ years of leadership experience
  • 6 Sigma Green belt preferred. Experience using 5S and Lean principles is preferred
