This role requires a Principal QA Engineer with over 15 years of experience in Layer 3 protocol testing and Python automation. The candidate will work closely with design engineers and marketing to understand feature requirements, translate them into test cases, and develop automation. Key responsibilities include executing testing assignments efficiently, possessing strong data networking concepts, and expertise in L2/L3 protocols, including OSPFv2/v3, BGP4, and VxLAN. Experience with test tools like Ixia and scripting languages such as Perl and Tcl is essential, along with knowledge of bug tracking and test case management tools.
Must have:
- Work closely with design engineers, marketing, and other test engineers.
- Understand feature requirements and translate to test cases and test automation.
- Execute testing assignments quickly and effectively.
- 15+ years of experience.
- Strong data networking concepts.
- Working knowledge of L2 protocols (STP/MSTP/RSTP, 802.1q/ad/aq, 802.3ah, 802.1ag/Y.1731).
- Working knowledge of Layer-3 Protocols (IPv4/IPv6, OSPFv2/v3, IS-IS, BGP4, IGMP, PIM-SM/SSM).
- Exposure to VxLAN, L2VPN, and L3VPN technologies.
- Strong knowledge of product verification methodologies and strategies.
- Experience in performance and throughput testing.
- Experience with test tools like Ixia, Smartbits, STC, and packet sniffers.
- Experience in scripting languages like Perl, Tcl, and Tk.
- Experience with Rational ClearQuest or other bug tracking tools.
- Experience in test case management tools like Quality Center.

- Working Knowledge of L2 protocols- (STP/MSTP/RSTP, 802.1q/ad/aq, 802.3ah, 802.1ag/Y.1731 (Ethernet OAM/CFM))
- Working Knowledge of Layer-3 Protocols - IPv4/IPv6, OSPFv2/v3, IS-IS, BGP4, IGMP, PIM-SM/SSM
- Exposure to VxLAN, L2VPN (Pseudowire, VPLS) and L3VPN (BGP/MPLS VPN) technologies
- Strong Knowledge of product verification methodologies and strategies.
- Experience in performance and throughput testing
- Experience in working with test tools like Ixia, Smartbits, STC and packet sniffers.
- Experience in scripting languages like Perl, Tcl and Tk.
- Experience with Rational ClearQuest or other bug tracking tools
- Experience in test case management tools like Quality Center
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
