Job Description:

The Principal SAP Consultant has responsibility for all phases of a Vertex Tax Technology implementation into SAP, including performing project planning, requirements definition, system configuration, testing, knowledge transfer, and development of custom documentation. This role has project accountability responsibility while delivering services and project deliverables in support of the deployment of Vertex tax technology products. In this role you will Identify and investigate client implementation issues and concerns, manage expectations, and provide recommendations, alternatives, risks and benefits, advice and guidance during all phases of the implementation. You are required to work collaboratively and build relationships with client tax, IT staff and other 3rd party advisors and consulting resources on the client engagement. This role requires significant subject matter expertise in both Vertex applications and SAP. The role may also require the ability to effectively identify and deliver tax process solutions and other value-added services that contribute to Vertex’s revenue and profit objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Independently manages and ensures all phases of Vertex projects including, review and analysis of client requirements, solution design and build, testing and providing client support as needed, is accomplished.

· Provide oversight and collaborate with less experienced Vertex Consultants on SAP implementation project tasks while coordinating as Project Lead and Project Manager on several projects and provide guidance, direction and assign project tasks in support of SOW and project.

· Continues developing leadership traits, gains industry knowledge and project implementation skills and takes guidance from Practice Leaders, and contributes to projects as needed.

· Provide review and analysis on solutions created by others.

· Exercise sound judgment to manage the day to day client relationship and expectations.

· Responsible for maintaining a high degree of customer satisfaction

· When appropriate, assist consulting Business Development in developing statements of work.

· Assist with the on-boarding and training and development of new team members

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· High level knowledge of all facets of SAP, both Sales and Purchasing transaction codes.

· High level knowledge and understanding of Vertex Software and Vertex Tools.

· Knowledge of implementation/consulting, customer service and vendor practices.

· Knowledge of software development methodologies and implementation/testing techniques appropriate to Windows, Legacy and/or client server database applications.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks, work in a team environment and understand the be responsive to project and customer needs.

· Ability to adapt and function effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, while working under deadlines.

· Solid analytical, presentation, trouble-shooting and design skills.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to maintain expected attendance at work.

· Effective time management skills

· Ability to manage job-related and personal stress effectively.

· Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends based on business need.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline

· 7-10 years of relevant work experience in Vertex Tax / Technology Implementations and Project Management, with strong knowledge of one or more host application/Vertex Partner software applications.

· Six years in-depth tax application experience working with systems such as SAP (ECC, S4/Hana. ERP, etc.)

· Has in-depth tax application experience working with public accounting firms and/or fortune 1000 companies in the area of transaction tax (e.g., multi-state/VAT).
